I asked a simple question to see if Christians found any gods of mythology interesting

This question has no bearing on ones religion, in fact the question was asked generally and was answered by atheists and Pagans alike.

Christians frequently post about how athests cannot think outside the box and imagine angels and faeries and whatnot and yet it seems that Christians have this problem more than anybody else.

Why are Christians so closed-minded?

They read and believe only one book, what do you expect?

That's why I think the "Religion and Spirituality" category should be forever closed--as people do nothing but fight on there. Then categories with individual religions (Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Espiscopal, Baptist, Mormon, Evangelist, Judiasm, Buddhism, Hindu(ism?), Islam, etc. could each be separate categories--so these people could just answer questions from people who think just like themselves. I suppose if atheists and agnostics actually want to speak beween themselves, they could have their own categories.

Religion is not something that should be disrespected--any religion--and that's what's happening in the Religion and Spirituality category. Also, lack of religion is not to be disrespected, as everyone has free-will, and can make up their own minds about what they want to believe.

I am also tired of these blind to reality, hypocritical, delusioned militant Christians. I am an Atheist, and I am always accused of being intolerant, just because I don't believe in the same thing others do. I am intolerant because I don't believe, apparently, but who are the intolerant ones? The Christians who narrow their eyes when I say I am not of a religion. Objectivity and Christianity are obselete.

When I was a Christian, most Christians believed the Bible to be the ONLY word of God. To even question it, ment you had some doubts about what it said. And to doubt the word of God was a Sin. Also I was taught to have any beliefs other then Christian was a Sin. After all, it was the Word of God. And I didn't need to look anywhere else for the truth.

I am a Christian and I think that mythology is interesting although I don't really know much about it. It makes me so mad to see Christians be so closed minded about things. I feel like so many just blindly believe... there are some of us who are intelligent enough to question the things that don't make sense to us... and sometimes we just accept the nonsensical things and just call it faith... but seriously, there are so many that give us a bad name

I've met some Christians who certainly could talk objectively about religion, among other subjects. I have a couple of friends like this. They do exist. Of course, the louder ones do not have the cognitive reasoning skills to step outside of solipsism.

BTW, long life Sho-Nuff. He IS the Last Dragon. [cue theme music]

I understand your question but I wouldn't limit it to just christians. In short I would definitely include the Moslims and Jews with the same propensity for denial of facts. They believe in the book that their respective religion promotes and that is that. It is a much simpler way of life to say I believe because it is my religion than to say I believe because I have read and studied other thoughts and beliefs.

The same argument that is made for Christians being close-minded can also be made for athiests being close-minded.

Both sides are close minded and neither discuss anything objectively. They can't discuss objectively because Christians use the Bible for their information and athiests do not believe in the Bible. So how can either side be "open-minded"?

Why should they try?

Not the extreme fundie kind of Christian. They've got it set in their mind that there's is the truth and there is not other. They are like horses wearing blinders. It would have been interesting if more Christians had answered your question. I went ahead and answered it even though I'm not a Christian. Heheh. ;-)

I think you are being somewhat stereotypical. I was always taught to become educated in all matters and to seek out truths on an individual level, not just believing to believe or believing blindly. I have also studied hundreds of religions and belief systems and find them very intriguing and helpful in understanding people and cultures. Without learning what others believe with an open mind, and putting yourself in their shoes, it is impossible to fully comprehend who they are.

You talk of Objectivity. I say to you sturdy sir which you your self lack any form of objectivity. You look to comprehend little or no approximately one the Christian faith, and a pair of the beginning up of our united states of america. lots of the finding Father of this large united states of america have been Christians, who got here right here and fought for our independence so as that they'd worship God. Now as a Christian i've got not got self belief we would desire to constantly be a theocracy in any respect. i visit even say that i think of the Christian faith as a lot of retarded those that have a lot of ideas that no longer based interior the bible. on the assessment the Bible, in need of a few miracles, is shown to have handed off. Christ grew to become right into a actual individual that did die and rose back on the 0.33 day. don't think me look it up. There are over 3 hundred eye witness money owed outdoors the bible that back this up. And the overpowering quantity historic info, standards laid out via scientist, is so severe that to discredit which could be to throw all of background greater then a hundred and twenty years out the window. Now so a strategies as blended ideas related to the bible. in case you study and comprehend the Bible it lays a foundation of which be have self belief, then supplies us a instruction manual line to stick to to stay our lives the way we'd p.c. interior his ethical bounds. Now it incredibly is all stuff you are able to look and back up. All this to coach that confident us as Christian, and Republicans would be purpose or perhaps clever. yet i'd say are you able to factor that judgmental finger back at your self. Like a lot of Democrats are against the war. yet I say to you that's the dumbest difficulty ever, via fact there'll constantly be somebody who hates and needs to kill us. So if we don't combat back against those attempting to kill us what's going to ensue? i visit tell you. they're going to are available take over and we are able to no longer have each and all of the liberty all of us now have and take granted of. the U. S. nonetheless has the call of optimal united states of america, yet that doesn't propose that's actual.
