My 2 year old daughter has recently been taking off her diaper when she gets wet and dirty.... Does this mean she is ready to potty train? She also will take her diaper off an wet on the floor instead of the diaper... I have been trying to get her on the potty an she will set on it then get off an wet on the floor. This is my first child and have no clue how to get her to start training the right way. Any advice would help.

She is telling you she is ready. She is taking off the diaper because she does not like the feel of it when its wet so she wants to keep it dry. I see that you have tried to get her on the potty and she wets the floor. Just be patient, you are doing the right thing. You can try this,
Take her with you when you go and have her sit on her potty while you go. She will get used to the sound of going in the big potty and that she should go in her potty.
Take her as soon as she has had something to drink, put her on the potty and see if she will go that way as well

Yes that is a sign that she is ready but she needs your guidance. Make sure you let her know that it is not ok to wet the floor. When she does go in the potty seat reward her. Maybe give her stickers or a little piece of candy. You might want to setup up a reward system so that she will be encouraged. I did that with my little one and it worked good but she eventually forgot about the stickers and just went on her own. It takes time and patience so be prepared. Also buy a potty seat that has her favorite charcter on it or a potty seat that she likes then she will be more interested in going.

My fiance has a 2 1/2 yr old and I know how frustrating it can be. We're buying size 5 diapers for her and every time I go to change her, she seems really too big and too old to still be wearing these diapers. What we tried to do is buy a smaller potty seat that sits right on the big toilet to get her used to the idea, but it didn't quite work, so at least once every hour, we try to put her on the toilet whether or not she says she has to go when we ask her. You can try it.

Make it fun for her to sit on the potty. Have books or special toys in the washroom for her that are only for potty time.

Every child is different though. The above worked with my son but my daughter won’t stay on the potty if I’m there. If I leave the room and leave her “stranded” on the potty or about 5 minutes or so, she’ll actually have a BM & everything.

when they know they are going to go before they do it they are ready.

She is definitely ready...

I want to set your mind correctly to handle this situation instead of telling you what to do...

You want them to go on the potty... that being said if you freak out too much and start punishing them for going on the floor... then you could end up back to them going in the daiper... (because you never reprimanded that)...

So you have to figure out how to get her to want to go on the potty...

ok... I will make a suggestion... she can't take her daiper off without taking her pants off... so put her in pants... OH better yet... put her in something layered... so she can't get it off... when she starts tugging at it.. help her and put her on the potty... then make a humongous deal over it if she even make the tiniest drop into the potty...

for us it was just letting them run around naked... they realized when they were going and associated that feeling with... OH I'm about to pee... then eventually got to the potty because they cried and felt bad when the went on the floor...

which makes me think... perhaps you need to let her know how growse it is when she goes on the floor... that you don't like it... carefull not to punish...

Sounds like she might be, but every child is different. Try a simple reward system for when she uses the potty. Keep it simple - with my kids, I simply let them wash their hands afterwards and have a little play time in the sink with the water - but only after they properly used the potty. It worked great.

we have a potty with a tray on it so while she is "doing her bussiness" she has something to play with she will probally cry the first time or two that you put her on but she will get use to it Good Luck
