they DON'T!!!! their job is the RECRUIT. they have quotas to meet. to meet them they won't necessarily lie, but they won't tell you the COMPLETE truth. what they do is find out a few things that you like to do and then exploit the point by pointing out all the exciting things in the military you could do.

like for me, i was born under a strict house. couldn't even breathe w/o my parents staring over me. so of course it was easy for my recruiter to draw me in. i was looking for excitment, adrenaline, adventure, fun, but still get a chance to finish school and get a degree. BOOM. my recruiter starts going off about how good the Naval Acadamy or NROTC would be for me. i was hooked. i get my education, i get my adventures, and because i wanna be a fighter pilot, i get to get my adrenaline rush too.

point: they figure out what you're looking for then try and tie it in with the military and then say "you can't find that anywhere else or in any other branch" lol.

don't ever believe that they know you better though. no one knows you better than yourself. you're just being too easy to persuade. if it really is what you want, then good for you. but the military isn't for everyone. be careful.

Look there are quite a few truths that are evident in someone's life that you can decipher from only a little interaction and simple questions that they can slip into a conversation and you will answer without raising any flags then suddenly it's like you are an open book and some guy is able to completely manipulate you.

Basically you are going to have to come to terms with the fact that you are basically going to be a tool fopr them so they will know how to control and manipulate you to reach the desired effect they want from you.

Sooo basically it's real easy to get lured into something that may not be the best possible situation for your life by listening to some guy who is trying to manipulate you for his own agenda.

because during early adulthood, most people do not know themselves. all they know is they are curious about most things, and they are driven by a certain "want".
thos same motivational "wants", aren't that different from any other kid your age.
you are either motivated by :
intellectual discovery
adventure
or material gain.
or a combination of them.
all people are, just adults are more directed toward their goals of obtaining them.
18-21 year olds don't know what they want to do, to acquire what they want in life. most of them barely know what they actually wnat in life. they are very curious and anyhting that sound exciting sounds good.
it is the recruiter's job to get an idea of what motivates you, and gear his sales pitch toward that while makign it sound exciting.

the recruiter is telling you what you want based on what motivates you, not letting you decide what you wnat.
is psychlogical, and sales training all recruiters get, a vaccuum cleaner, or car salesman will know you just as well if he is a good salesman..

Sorry, but there's not that much to know. The military spends ten of millions of dollars to study the motivations of kids just like you. Combine that with an intense study of body language and a hard sell and you start to believe the lies they tell you. Above all, they count on you being open to suggestion. Then they find your weakness - whether it's a desire not to appear "unAmerican" or weak or afraid or maybe you're simply over eager to please and fit in, and they exploit the hell out of it. The next thing you know, your high school girlfriend is crying over your casket.

You want to be a man? Laugh in their faces. Until every single 18-year old is made to spend two years serving his country, rich kids will spend four years in college getting laid and doing blow while you just get bllown up. Until everyone pitches in, the military is for suckers. You want to be a sucker? Then fall for their lies. Show 'em what you're made of and tell 'em to f*ck off.

Because they've seen it all. Ask your recruiter if there is a Rock in his office.

They DON'T. Trust me. They are trained however; to see what is motivating you to come in and talk to them about serving your country. Once they have determined your motivation, they sell those reasons.

because we blueprint information from you when we talk to you...

when we make normal conversation, we're actually looking to see what your motivation in life is... and then we work how the military can help you get there...
