There is so much to learn that it cannot be contained in a Yahoo! Answer.

You can begin to get an idea by getting a King James Bible, and visiting the web site below for a complete Bible in Latin to compare it with. The correspondence is pretty close. Start with the Psalms, they're simplest.

Latin today is basically a language to be written and read, not spoken. Nobody knows exactly how the Ancient Romans spoke Latin.

The Catholic church still uses Latin occasionally for liturgical purposes and even Protestant churches still sing it in some of their music however the pronuciation they use is what is known as "Church Latin" pronunciation. Church Latin pronunciation is very similar to Italian but not necessarily the Latin of Cicero and Julius Caesar. For example, the Chruch Latin pronunciation of Latin /c/ as /ch/ as in "Gaude celestis Domina - Gow-day chel-es-tiss doh-mee-nuh - "Rejoice heavenly lady" is a later Latin development from the 1st or 2nd century A.D. Originally, /c/ was always pronounced like /k/ in Latin.
