Why dont British army soldiers have to wear steel toe cap boots?

being an ex-soldier I cant really see any need for steel toe capped boots. The only thing likely to drop on them is a bomb and the only thing likely to roll over their feet is a tank or other afv in either case steel toe capped boots arent really gonna help! it would also make it very difficult to run etc etc

For obvious reasons they are mostly exempt from the Health and Safety At Work Act.

They would be useful if they ever shot themselves in the foot but so far it is only Blair and Bush who have done that.

its bloody heavy thats why, i used to wear them at work, and its like glue at the bottom of my feet, if soldiers had them, they wont be able to run at all, and not forgeting all other things they got to carry, last thing they need is heavy boots
