You can get a test done at the vets to check whether or not she is pregnant. There is a brilliant book called "book of the *****" - I can't think of the author but it was really helpful when we bred our dog last year. You don't notice alot for the first few weeks, after that the belly swells. The nipples swell and go red and sore looking their back end swells. Read up about it tho because the dogs going into labour is really scary even when you're prepared. I panicked with all the panting she was doing. Good luck xxx

It's very difficult even for a vet to tell you if she is pregnant during the first weeks. At around 28 days a vet may be able to tell you by palpating her. It's not advisable to let anyone else go prodding & poking. She may thicken a little around the middle, her nipples will become more prominent and, depending on what sort of coat she has, she may start losing a little hair around the nipples. She may also change in character & become more quiet & affectionate. Or she may do none of the above!!!
After about 6 weeks, you can have an ultrasound scan but even the, depending on how good the scanner is you may not be certain. Later in pregnancy she may start to have a clear discharge &, even later, the most definate sign is, when she is lying on her side you can see little ripples of movement along her side - that's the puppies moving. You may also feel them kicking if you gently rest your hand on her stomach. At about 6 weeks her appetite may increase & you can start feeding a little more, but not too much, it's harder for an overweight b1tch to whelp.
Some b1tches show no signs at all until as late as 8 weeks when they suddenly "explode" in size & most do not start to produce milk until the last few days.

Nesting behavior (attempting to make a nest by tearing up papers, blankets, etc.);

Mothering activity (this may include mothering of shoes, toys and other articles);

Weight gain,which typically occurs after the 4th week of pregnancy;

Abdominal enlargement or swelling;

Mammary gland enlargement. The mammary glands may be large and secrete milk or serous fluid.

Abnormal behavior. If your dog does not eat, acts lethargic or you notice excessive vaginal discharge, please call your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Abdominal ultrasound can be used to diagnose pregnancy after 21 to 24 days post breeding. This is a safe and excellent way to diagnose pregnancy and verify the health of the puppies.

30 days after breeding, you can get an ultra sound done. They can see heartbeats, but not a good method for an accurate head count, but can at least confirm a pregnancy. between 48 & 50 days you can get an x-ray to get a close head count.

If you think your dog is pregnant take her to a vet. He or she will know what you should do for the puppies.

SHE WILL BE PANTING AND STUFF AND SHE'LL KEEP ON MOVING ALL OVER THE PLACE AND GET LOTS OF REST. IF UR DOG IS PREGNANT CONGRATS AND THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IS TAKE HER TO THE VET AND SEE IF SHE IS PREGNANT!!!

if you feel the stomach gently you should be able to feel little bumps that will become largere over time her stomach will swell, she will get a bigger appetite and be more tired with this you should give her a basket or a cardboard box so she knows she will have a safe place away from people to have the pups
