From a spiritual standpoint, what is your personal position on the US actions in Iraq?

My question on your church/spiritual community's position didn't seem to get many answers, so tell me about your personal views on Iraq according to your personal spiritual beliefs.

It had to happen, it will play out the way it is supposed to play out and the world will go on. The world always goes on.

I think it was wrong to invade Iraq. They weren't any threat to the USA. The real purpose was for the Bush family to get revenge on Saddam Hussein for making the first George Bush look like a pansy for letting Saddam go after Desert Storm. It may be a bit paranoid, but I also believe Daddy Bush pulled some strings to fix the 200 election for the express purpose of getting Dubya in the White House to take care of unfinished business with Saddam. George the First used to be DIrector of the CIA, so he had experience with fixing elections in other countries. Now Saddam was hung (after his sons were killed) and we're going to be stuck with this mess for God knows how long.

I also believe Muslims become terrorists because the US and Britain create the situation that breeds terrorism. Every Muslim country has a history of Britain and/or the US occupation. Also, Britain/US forced the Palestinians into bondange in their own homeland; as they created the state of Israel (largely due to their own guilt of failing to prevent the genocide of Jews during World War II). Islamic countries tend to have a wide gap between rich and poor; and the political leaders (that is, the ones that aren't manipulated by the West) and leaders of religious fanatic groups point the finger at the West and Israel as something to blame for their problems. I think they have a legtimate complaint against the West, although some of their problems may actually be due to faulty leadership and internal corruption--but most of the guys who actually carry out the terrorists acts are illiterate and believe the propaganda fed to them.
Britain occupied Iraq after World War I and installed a puppet dictator. The US did the same thing to Iran.
Now we are repeating the same idiocy that started the problem in the first place.
I know my response was more historical and political than spirtual, but that's how I feel about it. Thanks for letting me vent, you don't have to agree with me, but I think I have some valid points.

I agree with John Paul II that Bush was wrong to start that war. It would certainly appear to contradict his own alleged pro-life stance as I can not see how wars of aggression can be considered pro-life. I am not a pacifist but i do not agree with unnecessary violence. It is my opinion that this war was started using false evidence linking secular Baathists to Al-Qaeda fundamentalists and therefore constitutes an unnecessary war of aggression that has killed too many Innocent people and created the opposite of a more peaceful and stable world.

Hmmm...First let me say this: Not liking Bush is not a reason to bash what our military is doing in Iraq.

I believe that the United States is the only country that will go and try to help other countries; everyone else (including many Americans, sadly,) is yelling at us telling us to mind our own buisness, but what about all the innocent people who would have died under Sadaam's conitnued reign of terror? What about all the women who can now show their face in public because we gave them that right? What about 10 years from now when their new Democratic form of government is stable and growing, and it will have been because of us?

"But people are dying..."

That is part of war people. The military is not there just to pay for your college, you know? And I know many marines personally; they are very proud to serve their country.

"But we have problems here at home that need to be solved..."

That is OUR job as citizens, to help our fellow countrymen.

large question, i visit be following the solutions to this one. As an "good" agnostic, our stance is that we basically don't comprehend for specific. The war could be justified, or could no longer, that's a controversy of non-public concept. some will pay attention to what their mom and father tell them. Others will take a greater medical attitude and attempt to weigh despite if the ends justify the potential.

It's not spiritual...its blood, guts, death, explosions and destruction. It's a war.

There is nothing spiritual about it. It's about power, greed, money and brutality.

I don't buy the Allah, Jihad, religious war stuff...that is just how those in power manipulate the average man into becoming a suicide bomber so they can get more power, money and control.

As a Muslim, it is difficult to hear stories about innocent Muslims being killed "in the name of Allah." These terrorists are not true Muslims. Any true follower of the Islamic faith understands that it is forbidden to kill, especially innocent women, children, and elderly. However, I do support the U.S. deciding to go to war, but I wish they would capture the heads of the Al-Qaeda regime.

There is such thing as a justified war.

Not sure if this war is one.

However, I do not think that the soldiers are committing murder (aka. sin) when they kill their "enemies" because they are protecting themselves.

But I know that I am safer today because of their actions.

I want the U.S. to be successful in brining peace to Iraq.

The US has incurred a lot of bad karma with its attack on Iraq. A lot of misfortune awaits the USA.
