Hi, perhaps one of these sites will help ...
This site has a pdf booklet with instructions for building cat proof fencing:
http://www.casey.vic.gov.au/pets/article.asp?Item=6593
There are other sites too ....
http://www.woodycoon.com/html/cat-proof_fencing.html
http://www.feralcat.com/fence.html
This one may need you to purchase a kit:
http://www.purrfectfence.co.uk/info_qa_cat.asp
And this one has some links to other sites about cat fencing:
http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/cat_care/fence_me_in.html
Good luck with the project

I spent quite a bit of money using cat fence-in twelve years ago. I wanted my cats to be outdoors with me in my garden and not be able to leave my property. It certainly can be done. You might go to that commercial site and see how it is down. Since the time I did it people have come up with their own home-devised methods of doing it. The principle is quite simple - you need brackets to hold netting out from the fence about every eight feet or so, then the netting is stapled to the fence and the cats cannot get under it to get out. If you have large trees or shrubs close to the fence it is more difficult to make it cat-safe. And it can be done with some ingenuity on your part.

We have fencing and trellis at the top and thankfully our girls don't climb very much. The answer is to cover any fencing with pea netting- you can get it in garden centres or DIY places- the car won't be able to get a good grip on the fence or the soft pea netting and they should stay within the confines of the garden!

I think at pet smart they sell a type of spray that can help you. It is a type of invisible fence that will keep your cat out of your garden. To be safe, try not putting plants that cats are allergic in your garden.

You realise that cats can climb fences hope. If you do build a fence then you will have to buid the top of the fence to lean inwards. This is to stop your cat getting over the top of the fence. That is all I can suggest.

You can build a fence to maybe stop other animals getting in, but your cat will straight over the top.

it should be 6 feet tall or higher because they could jump over it. It's possible they can climb over the fence but a tall fence will be harder to get over.

The ONLY way your cat or cats will be completely safe is if you keep them indoors where they belong!!!!!
