I believe Jesus existed because there is reasonable historical evidence to suggest he did, and it's the most logical explanation for the stories about him. I don't believe he loves me because he's dead, and dead people lack the physical capabilities to love anyone or anything, or to know who will exist thousands of years in the future.

I believe in Jesus because it makes my life happier and more peaceful. I do not enter into discussions about my faith, get into arguments about it, or try to defend it to others. It is a very private matter for me, and allows me to live a better life.

The most horrific death ever recorded? Pfft.

The most horrific death ever recorded was the rape victims from WW2, where they were raped by dozens of soldiers to death right after their family were slaughtered.
