You are lucky to have a very loving kitty! He wants to be with you all the time, and doesn't understand why there is a closed door between you and him.
Animals don't really understand why we may not be comfortable with them watching us use the bathroom. They just want to be with us - and don't have the same taboos that we have.
He may also think that he has done something wrong and thinks he is being punished by being seperated from you. Kitties, especially young ones like to have fun, play and be near you. If you seperate yourself from him, he doesn't understand that you want some 'me time'. All he knows is that you and him aren't together and he can't figure out what he did wrong.
Our cat (as well as past cats) does the same thing. My husband and I just got used to it. She sits on the side of the tub when I take a bath and purrs while she dips her paw in the water. She also likes to wait for us to shower - disliking ever being seperated.
So be thankful that you have such a loving little kitty! Not all kitties are like this, in fact some are so aloof it seems like they wouldn't even know if you left them.

Yep! considered one of my cats certainly sits in between the two bathe curtains each and each time i'm showering (that's a sparkling liner and she or he likes staring on the water run down it). She'll even attempt to attack the droplets of water, i'm basically waiting for the day she falls in! After showering she waits until I wipe the tub down with a towel then jumps into the tub and lays all the way down to computer screen the water drip from the partitions. She's additionally found out the thank you to hit the tub faucet along with her paws to make it drip.

LOL my cats too. I don't know why but they seem to know that you can't move from the "big white thing that makes that crazy flushing sound" as fast as you would off a kitchen chair. I think it's just that they take it as an opportune time to get some kitty loving from you. I think there are more cats that do this than people let on.

My 2 yr old cat does the same thing , I cannot leave the door closed he will cry and try to open it if I am in there . His litter box is in front of the toilet , and when I am in there he jumps on top of his box and stares at me. He does the same when I take a bath . He follows me everyhere I go . He is so cute ! They just want to be as close as possible to you . It's cat love !

Contrary to what many people think, cats are very sociable. They don't like closed doors. If you ever pay attention, they may not be sitting in your lap, but they are usually in the same room as you.

Yeah, mine does the same thing. She has to follow me EVERYWHERE. She's obsessed with water too, so I have to remember to turn the shower on to a trickle when I go into my bathroom. That's one room where I'd rather not have her jumping in my lap, so I distract her with the shower. It sounds like your kitty really loves you! (Or he's just keeping tabs on you to see what you're doing in "his" house.)
