Im looking for a Femail BSH kitten (younger than 1yr), I have tryed a number of petshops and the animal rescue centre at Hyde but with no luck. I have looked on the internet too but people want £300 each which i cant afford.I would pay up to £50 (£50 only if it has been neutured), I have everything ready for the new kitten as i thought i was getting one today. I do not always have access to a car so i would either need the cat bringing to me OR for it to be in easy access by public transport. Thankyouvery much Kittyb x

Hi, don't think you'll be able to get a British Shorthair for such a low price - they're normal price, for a pedigree kitten, is around the £300 mark. You may be able to get a rescue one - but probably only an adult - sorry.

And you must be so disapointed if you had one lined up to arrive today.

Anyway, you may be able to get a Domestic Shorthair (a moggie) that looks very much like a BSH for the price that you want to pay. Though you may have to wait a few more weeks for 'kitten season' to start in earnest.

Here are some sites for you to try:

Cat Rescue Organisations in your area (the link to your area is just under the map on the left hand side):

I've heard that sometimes rescue organisations will deliver if the cat/kitten is going to a good home - so fingers crossed for you.

Hope this helps

Speaking as someone who has an 11 month BSH female. I would say your pushing it for 50 quid. Its costs £50 just to have them neutered, That not including jabs etc. We got ours from middleton and she was £200 unaltered. Keep trying the shelters, you might get lucky, but theres no way a breeder will sell them for anything less than £150. Have a look in the loot. They sometimes advertise homeless pedigree cats. You might have to go for an older one though. Best of luck either way :)

Buying a cat on the internet, unless its from a VERY reputable breeder with all the guarantees is just stupid. Selling cats on the internet is even dumber, and I really hope that you aren't a backyard breeder who just decided to make a profit off your animals health. I would really hope that isn't the case and you aren't one of those horrible awful disgusting people :) Why don't you give people a little more background on your breeding qualifications and certifications and then maybe people will stop accusing you of being a backyard breeder and using living creatures for profit :)

Don't feel bad. I raised Blue point Himalayans & sold a female I thought was male. Had the Certification papers sent in & the lady called me 3 months later when she took to the Vet ! Yes, I'm blonde too!

go to your local rescue/destitute animal shelter/cats protection league they get cats all the time wanting a home, starved of lvoe and affection preciously mistreated looking for someone to love them , feeed them and accept them, be warned most of them arent like normal moggies - they can have serious personality quirks,, we got one 5 years ago - she couldnt be re-homed due to her strange, odd and hyperactive behaviour, im experienced with cats - and she was hard work, we still have her though, not as batty as she was, took her 3 months to settle in, she used to challenge me and charge at me! And stop to inches off my face, even I wanted to take her back to the centre!!! but we kept her and year after year shes settle in more and more, it takes ages to win theri trust becasue theyve been so mistreated, all cats (exp0ect kittens under 6 motnhs old) are fully neutered, and all cats/kittens have been vaccinated, and wormed, you can get a cardboard carrier fromt he rescue centre where you get he cat - proably £3, the adoption fee is around £38 - well worth it
