My friend has a ticket from 10/2003, and since she got the ticket she has only received one letter about it back in 2004, well the ticket is over $1000, for speeding and not going to court and a few other things , she is just wanting to know if she should pay it ??? the ticket was given in a different county than what she lives in and she was also wondering can they expedite you for a traffic ticket?

the ticket that is currently keeping her from shanging her address was for an expired tag on her car, the $1000 ticket was for speeding and failure to show proof of insurance

Like the first poster said you really need to get a "good" traffic attorney. I do not know all the circumstances involved, but it does not even sound good. Your friend should try to get this settled as soon as possible, because sooner or later they will revoke her driving privileges. Sounds like your friend was really going fast. She needs to try and work with the legal system instead of working against it.

She does need a lawyer. Here in VA, it doesn't matter if it's another county or not. If it's w/in the state and there's a warrant/capias for her arrest, there is no matter of extradition ... she will be served and/or picked up by the originating county. (Extradition only comes into play when it's a matter of the subject being in ANOTHER state.)

Receiving ONLY one letter is MORE than enough notice to be considered "notified", by the way. Most likely, she will not be able to renew her license if she does not pay this or get a lawyer to otherwise get it taken care of.

I have no answer, but I have the same problem myself. However if this is only ticket she has she should call the court, but if she has three then, her license will be suspended because that is what happen to me and now I am not able to drive.

First off she needs to paid the ticket and get it out of the way. They can suspend her license until it is paid and also put a warrant out for her.

She may have a warrant because of the ticket. She should speak with a lawyer in order to get it cleaned up.

She needs to get a "good" lawyer - any advice you receive on this matter on this question from the young kids here will be absolutely useless!
