i went through a short period in college where i was very angry at God for some things that had occured in my life...i swore that i didn't need God, and infact went looking for...something..on my own and stumbled upon Wicca....after a few months i realized that i didn't want any part of paganism...i eventually found my way back to Christ...but i just recently read that there is an "unforgivable sin" = blaspheming the Holy Spirit...is this something for real? am i doomed for all eternity b/c of something i did years ago? i am NOT catholic.

would appreciate answers from born-again Christians like me.

This question comes up every couple of days. No, you haven't committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. You heart would not have been open to the influence of the Holy Spirit convicting you of sin and leading you to righteousness if you had.

The unforgivable sin is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. In order to do that, you have to take credit for something that only God can do and I doubt you have done that or you wouldn't be following now. Read your Psalms out loud daily, as these are prayers from prophets and kings that worked, and read the new testament. God will direct you and bring your heart to him.

No man can sin against light until he has it; nor against the Holy Ghost, until after he has received it by the gift of God through the appointed channel or way. To sin against the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, the Witness of the Father and the Son, wilfully denying him and defying him, after having received him, constitutes the unpardonable sin.

No man can possibly commit the unpardonable sin in ignorance. A man must be brought to a knowledge of Christ; he must receive a testimony of Christ in his heart, and possess light and power, knowledge and understanding, before he is capable of committing that sin. But when a man turns away from the truth, violates the knowledge that he has received, tramples it under his feet, puts Christ again to open shame, denies His atonement, denies the power of the resurrection, denies the miracles that He has wrought for the salvation of the human family, and says in his heart, “It is not true”, and abides in that denial of the truth, after having received the testimony of the Spirit, he commits the unpardonable sin.

Long story short...I think you're fine. You may have need to repent, but I doubt you've committed the unpardonable sin.

It is true, there is an unforgivable sin. Its not just Catholic, its any Christian religion. I cannot really tell you much because I'm really cautious about that subject, you need to speak to someone in the church. I was once told that if you felt sorry and anxious then you didn't commit that sin.

Unforgivable sin is as far as I know a Christian thang! Along with the whole original sin BS, which is why I never was a Christian in the first place!

This kind of guilt is one of the very reasons I left Christianity for Neo-Paganism. I hope you reconcile it. Going through life with this fear is not right and it should not be subjected upon anyone.
