I don't really see the point in them. The new Altima is in the price range you need. You can load it up with extras comparable to the Maxima. They are basically the same size, but the Altima has a lot of cool new features that the Maxima doesn't have, and it's better looking.

I had a 2003 Altima from new and did 68,000 miles before I traded it. A month before I traded it I had it serviced and asked the dealership to look for ANYTHING that needed doing. Now that is normally an open invitation for them to find something. The only thing they could suggest is that I have the battery cleaned at a cost of $20.

Seriously, Nissan are amazing. I was incredibly impressed when I drove the Altima SE with 270HP. The new chassis was amazing, and it was very well equipped. If I were spending less than $30K this is the first place I would look. But I honestly wouldn't even consider the current Maxima. It's too expensive and too similar to the Altima in my opinion.

See links for some good reviews of both.

Toyota and Nissan are the two best in reliability, And the new Maxima's..... 270 horses can't be wrong. Everyone I know who has one loves it and has not problems or very minor problems. Hope this helps. Oh, the resale on them is great too, so even if your not happy with it more than likely you can get your money out of it!
