I have had this happen to me...I've left beer on the front porch to chill down, and forgotten about it
.
There are 2 main problems with frozen (and then thawed) beer: number one, the beer is made mostly of water, which expands when it freezes. The problem isn't really the beer itself, it's the fact that it ruptures the can, or pops the cap off the bottle. The water WILL expand, no matter what, and it will make it's own path if necessary.
The second problem is the fizz: the ice can't hold onto the carbon dioxide, so it's all forced out of the beer. You open the container, and the CO2 floats out & joins the atmosphere. You're left with flat beer. I've never had a flat beer that I really liked (but I drank them anyway).

Here's a tip - if you want to chill your beer quickly, you can stick it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. It won't freeze as long as it's in the cardboard packaging.
Everyone else is correct. The ice completely kills the carbonation.

You've broken down the carbonation, so it tastes flat
