well i am not married but been happily unmarried for yrs and yrs

we had a bbq in the fall with family and friends
food bon fire and fireworks

we said vows and exchanged rings

you dont need that paper to tell anyone you want to be with them forever and care for them

the only thing its good or is spending money getting into and out of marriage

because it started out as a bbq everyone brought a dish so it helped on the cost of food

Easy!
I am doing the same thing later this year, and how pleased are we to be organising our own wedding!!
We are planning this together, and we will do exaclty what we want. We are having a small registry ofice wedding, followed by a simple sit down reception at a canalside country pub, where they will let us take over the little dining room with our 25 guests and are happy to plan the catering around us. There will be a little music after just for the fun of it and then we will sneak off on honeymoon.
Perfect. No big plans to make, no hassle with cars and caterers, no upsetting Aunty Maud or Jill from accounts. And it's cheaper. These are all plus points!
Hope your day is fabulous, all the best.

Oh, yes that can easily be done. You could have a destination wedding. Or get married in a small chapel or garden and have a reception at a cozy restaurant. Or you could have both the wedding and reception in someone's backyard. Honestly, you have lots more options because you don't need to find a place that can accomodate a large group.

Decide what you have to have to make the wedding very special to you & your fiance & work from there.

You about can have your choice of venues. A nice hotel, restaurant, Art gallery, garden, home, yacht, the list goes on. Most of these places have staff that will help you pull this event together.

My sister in law did this, she just verbally mentioned that they were going to Jindabyne for a holiday & by the way we will be getting married. All her immedate family paid there own way & we all shared accomadation for a very enjoyable week in the snow which also turned out to be their honeymoon.

She gave us enough notice for us to save our money to be able to join her.

She was over the moon.

Good luck

My husband and I got married in his sister's yard/garden and we made our own cake and had family and friends bring food. It was simple, and beautiful.
