I am a mobile hairdresser and extensions stylist starting up my own business.
I'd just like to ask you people, when you have your hair done, whats the most important factor that helps you make the decision to have it done?

1. Price
2. Quality of service
3. Quality of products
4. Professionalism of stylist

Thank You!

1. Quality of Service (i.e., quality of cut or color)
2. Qualtiy of Products
3. Price
4. Professionalism of stylist

A good cut can take you through for months and can even stand a poor cut in between due to the other stylist's ability to follow the existing lines of the better cut.

I am not much of a small talker and have had too many bad experiences sour my mood for months to worry about price or the attitude or personality of my stylist. In fact, my colorist and current stylist are French and say little to nothing during the whole process but I tip them 30% each time and never, ever have to dread my time with them or what I will look like on my way out the door!.

The answer above who mentioned availabilty and convenience is an excellent point and would actually be my number 2. I don't want to wait weeks for an appointment and I can't always take 2-3 hours during "banker's hours" (9-5 M-F) during the week to get done:-)

My 2 cents. . .

Hi there,
I have been going to the same salon for the last 10 years and am very pleased with the quality of service and the professional service i receive. However it is very expensive but i believe I get good quality styling , colouring and cutting for the price i pay. I also like the convenience of going out to the salon and getting some ' me time' away from my kids and phone. The little touches like having a few cups of coffee made for me and time to read magazine whilst having my hair done is all very enjoyable.
Ten years ago prior to finding this salon i had a mobile stylist do my hair for approx a year. She usually blow dried and cut my hair. However i asked her to perm my hair and it went wrong!!! i was devastated and later found out that she was not a qualified stylist at all!!! She had done a few months apprenticeship at a salon and then decided to go it alone.
No i am over cautious and stay where i know i get quality service.

All of them though I am not concerned about quality of products too much. I like to have a good haircut, that I am able to recreate myself at home. I like a hairdresser that listens to what I want and asks questions if they are not certain the hairstyle I am asking for. I hate it when hairdressers cut/style your hair in such a way that it does not resemble what you had in mind - even when you bring in pictures to help describe the style you want. I also like a hairdresser that charges a fair price. I personally wouldn't pay over £20 for a haircut.

Since you are just starting out I suggest you start on a low price to help bring the customers in and then you can gradually increase the price over time when you have built up clientele, and a reputation.

all of the above have factor but i guess overall quality is the main factor.

for example I had my hair done at Tony and Guy and the price was very high but the quality was crap.
When I needed a trip I went to my local hairdresser the price was great and the quality was amazing. The style was perfect and the experience was much nice even though she used less expensive products.

Depending on type of client you aiming at. They are all important except price. Your hair is your crowning glory and you get what you pay for.I owuld go for quality o service and professionalism followed by products then price although you should not price yourself out of the market
So many people expect you as a mobile hairdresser to be cheaper. What they dont realise is that you are saving them time, travel costs parking etc.Plus they get to be in the comfort of their own home.

Quality of service beats the price every time, I have paid for expensive hair cuts and come out of the salon crying as the cut has been so bad, and I have paid £10 for a great hair cut. I also have a problem with stylists that do not listen to what their customer wants, or ones that talk to their colleagues instead of concentrating on what they are doing.

I would say the professionalism of the stylist and the quality of the service. I don't mind paying more if I'm happy with the outcome. Wouldn't go anywhere just because it's cheap.

Professionalism of stylist definitely! A bad haircut takes time and money to rectify so go for quality from the start!

All of the above. Most people have to be comfortable with their stylist as well though. Hence most will visit the same person to have their hair done every time. Trust I feel is a major factor as most woman see their hair as very imporatant.

well i had my hair cut by a student last week and even tho it was cheap, i wasn't very satisfied with it. i didn't change my hairstyle or anything, just had the split ends cut off, but i'll be going to my usual stylist next time!

so the ranking is:
1. stylist (when you've found one you like, you tend to keep them)
2. price
3. quality of service
4. quality of products (i never notice what they use)

good luck with the business x
