Can he influence a person's free will? Can he move physical objects? If he can't do either then I can't think of any way he can influence anyone. Please be very specific.

Perhaps he can do it by speaking to people, but that would require him to manifest in human form (or to take control of someone's brain which would affect free will).

I'm not loking for example of temptation, I'm looking for the method he uses to cause the temptation. How would he get you to think you might like to steal?

People do things they want to do and then blame it on an invisible bogey man when payback comes. Two points, please.

Have you ever wanted to do something that you knew you shouldn't? Like:
"my friend left $100 on my sofa, I'll just keep it and not tell them"
"I really want to have sex with this person, my spouse/parents/whoever won't know"
"If I cheat on my taxes, I'll have more money (or owe less)"

These would be examples of temptation, if you believed in Satan. In many religions there is a voice for evil that tries to sway you to do what is considered wrong. (Hmmm wonder if Bacchus/Dionysus worshipers were tempted to be sober?).

If this doesn't help, feel free to talk to a Catholic priest as they know all about Satan and his temptations.

satan has no power over Gods people other than to tempt them, place stumbling blocks or try and hinerance their prayers.

Edit: how is this accomplished? Through spirit form. If that does not explain it then you don't want an explanation just an argument

He knows our weakness; lust, greed, gluttony.
He may influence us but ultimately it's our own free will that allows us to sin.
Satan may put others into our paths if he knows we are weak in a certain area or suggest someone to leave cash in site of a greedy person.
Just some ideas.

When he (the devil) speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own : for he is a liar, and the father of it. -John 8:44
The original lie told that there was no sin (Genesis 3:2);
There are no consequences to sin (3:4);
That you can be God. (3:5).
Starting with these lies, he is tempting, and many fall prey to his lies.

He told Jesus that he would give him the world if he jumped off the cliff.

Sounds kind of funny that Satan didn't know Jesus was God doesn't it.

I guess if you hear voices telling you to do some ridiculous stuff and promising you something that is already yours it is Satan.
