Cavities are not the only things that make your teeth hurt. Plus, you can't see all cavities. I had one that destroyed the tooth from the inside. It only showed up on x-ray. Ultimately I lost the tooth and now have to pay for a bridge or an implant. Go see your dentist and expect x-rays.

Sounds like me. All my cavities started from the inside of the tooth.

Buy some Sensodyne toothpaste. What it does is it fills in the microscopic pores in your teeth, every tooth in your mouth has them. Sometimes teeth just hurt too, it should go away in a week's time, if not feel free to ask your dentist. You should only feel concern if you feel a throbbing pain, as that could be a sign of a more serious problem. (The kind of throbbing you'd feel if you smash your finger with a hammer)

Obviously there is a problem, use some oragel in the meantime until you get to the dentist. The tooth could be cracked

In my experience as an amateur dentist, I have found that teeth have strange habits of bringing searing and throbbing pain to people. This could be caused by excessive chili consumption, bad karma, or even Chef Boyardee. See your dentist--he may tell you the same thing.

You could just be experiencing sensitivity in your teeth. Not all cavities are visible by just looking, though. You really should see your dentist.

It could be decay from within the tooth.
