There are several answers. Some of them are quite simple but you won't get people to go along with them. Others are simple but will require time to implement.

The problem is people. They keep breathing. And every time they do they give off CO2. And they like mobility and power. The biggest producers of CO2 besides people are industry and transportation. Cars, trucks, ships, and planes burn petro products. The majority of electricity is produced by burning petro products.

Now I know we aren't going to get rid of people so how do we get rid of CO2 emissions people generate. The answer is simple trees and plants. They take in CO2 and give off O2.

Now how do we reduce the CO2 generated? Nuclear power is the obvious answer. Standardized nuclear power plants can be made very safe and standardized plants would have the same parts for all plants. And teams that are qualified to work on one plant could work on all plants. Waste is really not a problem. We have the technology to send ALL nuclear waste to a disposal site were it will cause no problems-- The Sun!

Just remember the KISS principle.

Basically what is released in the atmosphere as a result of combustible materials reduction is a gas called carbon dioxide.
So the solution to is to remove Co2 after combustion has taken place . This can be done. There was a Chemist engineer, who was a co-friend,that was able to achieve such a combustion system. However he died before he could put forth his system.Several companies including Westinghouse and Japanese companies trtried to emmulate his system but failed because the did not know the secret behind the system.
However carbon dioxide is usefull for plant. And in forest systems carbon dioxide is injected into the forest.
So if carbon dioxide could be collected in great quantities the forest would be glad to eat it up.
may be this answer would help give you the prize.I would not get involved with money.
