My mother is a Christian, and although we went to church 2-3 times a week, she never forced anything on me. I have also come to believe on my own that religion isn't at all about God and spirtuality. If you believe in God, then religion only becomes a way in which you practice your beliefs. My parents knew I had to see things for myself, and after looking around I have learned that I really believe that God is real. He is around us all the time. I also know my church taught us about all the differences in religions that are out there. They didn't try to sway us on anything in our teen group, but they did help us compare it to the bible, and let us make up our own mind. I liked that.
It has been years since I have thought about this- It just seems so simple. Christians don't shelter their children from the world. That would only disable them. But my parents believed that by teaching me how to deal with problems in life had to come from faith, no matter which 'religion' it came from.

No. That's ignorant. Do Little bad ground on Christian's lifestyle if your that interested. GROW UP. If you don't like what we believe then ignore it. I have been taught about other religions. We don't hide our children from the world because we are scared they will convert. If they convert then its their own life.
Stop being ignorant and stop asking stupid questions.
We don't decide who does and doesn't go to hell. God does. So anyone who says "they are going to hell" needs to read the part of the Bible that talks about judging someone. Humans aren't God and we don't know. We have to accept that.

my children learn about other religions from school & their friends. i too have non-christian friends & we all socialise together with no problems. i teach my children about Jesus and point them in that direction cos for me its what i believe in and cannot encourage them in directions i know nothing of, have no belief system in. Wud u teach yr child to ride a motobike when u dont hve any knowledge of it? No. And i dont think you would hand over your child to someone else to tech them stuff you dont know about yourself, would you? I beleive that Jesus is the way the truth and the light, so thats where i point everyone (not only my kids) to.

You talk like a Nazi and carry forth bigotry. Atheists have the ultimate to coach their nonsense to their little ones, we've the ultimate to coach our 'nonsense' to ours. on the 2nd, you have already succeeded in getting your bigotry typical interior the academic equipment provided that neverlution is considered a technology mutually because it in reality is a concept. that's a controversy of money and not the rest for the severe-monks of neverlutionary coaching. ----- Quote: that's barbaric to stress a human to enhance up believing what somebody else believes. you do no longer stress Nazi ideals on youthful little ones for a reason. Edit: Are you mentally challenged? how are you able to steer away from the indoctrination via people who have self belief strongly interior the evolution and function taken over the academic community - neither their little ones nor all people else can steer away from this rubbish. basically given which you've got self belief that faith is rubbish, does that make you amazing and supply you the ultimate to make it a regulation to coach evolution everywhere? make this a regulation of the land for all and sundry else? you may desire to be quite trouble-free minded in case you think of that folk do no longer coach their little ones their very own ideologies and ideology, whatever they suspect. go searching, despite the country, despite the religion they have -- that's being extensive-unfold via their little ones. The Scandinavians frequently settle for evolution, and that's what maximum of their adolescents have self belief in. enhance up!

No, of course not. Most Christians are very intelligent and recognize that their faith and religion is just one of many. All of the religions that foster love, peace and harmony are good, and those that institutionalize hate, intolerance and seperation are bad. Likewise, an enlightened Christian notices that there are good and bad people, churches and sects even within their own religion.

I teach my children about Christianity.
If they learn about other religions, they learn about them in school (which by the way is a Catholic school)
I make no representations or assertions to them about the validity or lack thereof of any other religion.
But I do make it plain that I believe that Christianity is the way to go.

I don't have children.
But my mom has books on other religions, and she allowed me to explore for myself. She never actually outright discouraged me from exploring, she just said that she didn't agree with them. Then she would point me to the books that helped her make her decision.
I'll probably do the same with mine.
