Most people don't know what your talking about because they don't read every question. Each time you ask something you need to add all of the info. If your dog is having problems breathing why are you waiting until Saturday to see the vet? Is your dog just having a reverse sneeze? a very weird cough that sounds like it cant catch its breath? Standing in a Bulldog stance gasping? or is it just breathing improperly? If it is coughing on occasion and doing the funny stance gasping it is just a collapsed trachea and all small dogs do it. The dog is in no real danger. However if the dog is not breathing properly you need a vet now not Saturday.
What your dog is doing is called a reversed sneeze. All dogs do it from time to time. It is when the trachea collapse and it will resolve when the dog swallows a couple of times. It happens more frequently to small breeds but, as I said all dogs will do it. Since you are new to dogs email me if I can help you. Glad you are going to the vet. It never hurts to make sure. Good Luck

There are a fair amount of rude people here who enjoy just spouting off on others from behind their computers where true identities will never be known. They think it gives them a liscense to behave in a way they probably never would in real life.
What I think is so wrong, is that people here make ASSUMPTIONS about an askers situation. They assume because you're here asking that you've not thought of the vet at all or that you don't want to spend the money. You really have to ignore these uneducated types who draw conclusions they should not.
Oh yes, and when you come across some really nasty folks (and you will) don't feed the trolls. Report them, but don't give them the satisfaction of a response.

Hi there Les.
One thing to consider is that people on the net tend to react in ways which they would never do in person or in public. They think they are anonymous and in some cases that is true, however anyone who really wanted to figure out who someone else was probably could with enough work and energy. (Might be a little shady in some cases but it can be done.)
Another thing to consider is that because the Animal Rights movement has everyone in a mass hysteria mind set over all animals, especially dogs, people are quick to make personal calls, many of which are not founded in experience but they feel are correct because they have been exposed to the propaganda surrounding dogs right now from the Animal Rights (AR) movement. What they fail to understand is that the AR movement is founded by people who are Vegans and yield to an ideology that man should not use animals at all, not even as pets. The AR movement has become quite adept at misinforming the public and getting people to believe that they are actually for the welfare of animals. That is not the case, the hierarchy of the AR movement would like to see NO pets exist at all, obviously pets eat meat and these are people who do not eat any meats or wear leather themselves. Being very adept, and convinced that an “ends justifies the means” operation is called for in order to “free dogs from enslavement” as they see it they push their agenda. Hence they have infiltrated rescue groups and convinced many that their modified beliefs will be good for dogs. The reality is that they are trying to eliminate dogs with the type of hysteria that currently surrounds them. The hysteria will lead to an enhancement of the AR’s lobbying and passing laws making it extremely difficult and expensive to own a pet. This is happening state by state, but I digress and should get back to your initial question.
I just looked back to see some of the questions you have posted in order to understand what you were talking about. I hope your Westie is doing alright. The original question you posted could have had many answers and without seeing the dog it would be hard to even take a guess at what was going on. As long as the dog could have been kept calm and not under distress and able to breath normally until your appointment to see the vet this weekend, you did the right thing by not over reacting. If the dog couldn’t calm down into a state where it could breath normally you would have had a dire emergency. I am curious as to how all that turned out and what the vet’s opinion and prognosis was. You might be able to click a link and add to the question to let us know.
Another link supplied is a spell check link that can be used when you are posting, I do find that it does not always work though and end up copy/pasting into a program that has spell check and then pasting back into the post box. Having fewer spelling errors tends to get people to take us more seriously.
Good luck and enjoy the answers section of Yahoo! Just keep in mind that many people are over reacting about dogs right now, they assume everyone is guilty and cruel simply because they have been hearing way to much about anything anyone might have experienced that may not have been socially expectable. All that stuff has been blown way out of proportion by both the media and the Animal Rights movement, most people and their dogs are very happy and enjoy each other.
At the source below you can search all kinds of quotes from different AR groups showing how anti animal they really are :)

Take no notice of people,it is difficult when you have a pet in distress, but the one sure way of knowing what is wrong is to take your pet to the vets,do not rely on this site for a diagnosis.
Hope your pet is ok,

i wont talk about the people cause it seems like that is covered but my senior dog does that too and its kind of a sneeze but mostly its like they are trying to spit out a hair even if you don't see anything its because sometimes its just one hair stuck in their throat do you see some spit come out after he does this? ,so i would ask your vet about something for allergeys ,the "hacking" up a hair will be worse if it is a long haired dog

You just have to ignore the people that have nothing better to do than insult and try to upset you. There are alot of genuine people here that want to help, and you have others that just think they are better than you, and you also have some that need medical attention, (preferably from the men in white coats).

Welcome to the internet.....don't sweat the ugly answers. However, some are correct when they say "quit wasting time and go to the vet".....common sense goes a long way here. Some questions are legit, and some people are just flat out dumb.
Just post your question, and pick out the good answers, leave the rest behind.

Its upsetting if you have a genuine problem and people give you flippant, uncaring, rude or weird answers. It says more about them than it does about you. I asked one question, can't remember what it was now, and some guy told me to go and kill myself!!! Just ignore them! You will get some good answers, and you can always report people if they go against site rules if that makes you feel better.
