It always makes a difference.

There is a story of a little girl on a beach after a storm. There was a terrible storm and it washed up hundreds of starfish along a long beach. A little girl was throwing starfish back into the sea. Upon asking the little girl why she was doing this...as there was so many and she could never save them all by herself...she replied 'it mattered, to that one.'

We help people one at a time...as much as we can. No, we can not help everyone by ourselves. But to each one that we help...it makes a difference. That in turn...makes the world a little better.

Of course.
There is only one wrong thing you can do in any situation once you have become aware of it:
And that is " Do nothing"

So it doesn't matter what you do to help as long as you do "something".

The very least this will do is make YOU feel better, and you are a part of this world, so that is already an improvement.

Set a good example and watch the effect multiply. That's how you make a difference.

Every little step makes a difference.

Once upon a time, there was a homeless man. He had eaten at a diner, and didn't have enough money to pay the check. The cook gave him a $20.

Years later, that once homeless man was a successful business man, and very rich. Every Christmas, he went around, passing out hundreds of dollars to those who appeared to be needy. To some people, like cancer patients deemed "terminal", he gave thousands to. Many of those people are alive today. He was primarily in the Kansas City area, but he occasionally went to other cities as well. He was buried with full honors just this past weekend, having lost his own fight with cancer. Those who attended included many of the people he helped, and they vowed to continue his legacy of being the secret Santa.

See what a cook with $20 can do?

I think if EVERYONE gave then it would make the world a better place. There are to many people that do not want to get involved for many different reasons, so it will probably never happen. People do NOT even stand up for their own rights anymore!!

I think so.

But even if it does not, I would rather live my life as if it does.

"This is the true joy of life, the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."

--George Bernard Shaw

"I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something.
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do
The something that I can do."

-Edward Everett Hale

Of course it will, but it takes more than 10% of the population to do so. Serving God does not help your fellow man, but taking out your elderly neighbor's trash does. Common sense just isn't very common anymore.

I think that's the general idea and purpose of our lives- to make a difference through our own self sacrifices.
