Here's the story... I'm 18 years old. I started wtih 1600$ CAN and played in cash games from 1/2, to 10/20... i managed to build my bankroll to around 5600$ US in a matter of a week, then lost it all almost as quickly as i gained it. I went broke and basically decided to give it another shot and put 25$ into my account... in one day (less than 6 hours) i managed to win 2500$ strictly only playing cash games. I kept playing and lost that. I'm a good player and in a field of like 2000+ players i can consistently make the top 10% but rarely win first. Theres a tournament for 215$ online.... first place gets 200 000$... who thinks i should take a shot at this? I'm sorta pressed for cash, but it wont ruin me or anything like that.

Hi Teddy:

Sounds like you are a pretty good holdem player. That being said I think you need to revisit your money management skills. When you intitally won the $5600.00 I would have taken out my investment of $1600.00 and put it in the bank. What I would do if I were you is to make sure I always remove at least 50% of my winnings and bank them. Although it may take a little longer to get to your dream car you won't risk losing all. I know that a $200,000.00 prize pool is an attractive possibility for the investment of $215.00 but remember there are several Pro's playing in those tournaments too. I would suggest you stay in the lower limit tourneys with less competition and start packing away your winnings. Whatever you decide I wish you luck.

PS. You are only 18 so just a little word of advice. Never put yourself in a position where you are strapped for cash based on gambling! Online gambling is for entertainment and very few actually make a living do it.

There are not many professinal poker players in world so no if your short on cash no don't do it. It does not matter how much you have won. There are always bad breaks that catch even the greatest poker players. Build your account up again and stop, don't try moving up to the bigger tables stay in the 1/2 to 4/8 range. And don't go wasting your money on a expensive sports car. Take your winnings & go get an education then buy a nice sports car. At the age of 19 your insuruance on a car like that would be outragious.

Sounds like you are a decent player but don't know when to call it quits. You may want to enter if you don't need the cash for bills or to eat. Pull out when you feel things going bad. A Ferrari is not all its cracked up to be, plus, you can find one for cheaper than you think by looking for used ones. Still expect to pay 75,000 for a decent one. One more thing. There are a lot of good players that will enter for that amount of cash. Your odds at winning it all are slim. Try working for a living and save for a Ferrari or get into a profession that will allow you to get one down the road.

i would simmer down a bit there son.. not that you cant win a bankroll, but you almost dont mind losing it back. to manage a bankroll you have to have a stop limit. If you increase your bankroll by 1000% that being from 25 to 2,500 and then lose it all, you are playing texas holdem cash games wrong. As the more money you get, the higher stakes you play you will inevitably lose it all. you have to pick one stake and stick with it at a comfortable rate. this is allow you to continue to build your bankroll without putting it all at risk and hitting rock bottom..
if you decide to play in this tourney, which i believe is on stars, then good luck, and if you place, i would take my advice and pick a constant stake to play at.

don't play with sacred money.....don't chase a loss...set win goals and loss limits......just a wild guess here after turning $25 into $2,500 in 6 hours...when your bankroll hit 2 thousand you lost the rest in about forty-five minutes....don't get emotional. an example of a good player is making the top 10% with a huge stack of checks....you tell me if you are good. try this....how many flops do you see.? you should see no more than 25% and most of those on the button .

You should only play for entertainment and never gamble with more than you can afford to lose. As mentioned above, there is still an large amount of luck involved. Not matter how good you are or think you are, someone is going to be better.

No matter how well you can play there is still a lot of luck involved in poker, especially online where you can't really read the other players too well. I wouldn't do it.

Maybe you should think this "I'm a good player..." thing over again. I also suggest to go http://www.pokerstrategy.org.uk/en/ and read their strategy-guide.
