Still not very helpful.... GP in a group are paid a salary, usually in the $95,000-$150,000 yearly range. An independent orthopedist who is well sought after, well known, has his own big clinic and doesn't bother with insurances can make #30,000 -$60,000 per week. In the United states, most people have some insurance, but many doctors don't take it. And some procedures aren't covered, Many who have no insurance get no care. In essence, in this very wealthy country, the government doesn't much worry about those who work hard, but make little money, and it has only gotten worse since the Bush administration.
