It's illegal to make at home if you're in the US or most of the world. However, assuming you live in New Zealand, where it is legal for personal use, the best source of information on distilling at home is http://homedistiller.org
This is how 42 Below vodka (made in NZ) got its start.

It All Depends I Have A Couple recipes that seem to work well.
This is the most reliant one...
Moonshine
INGREDIENTS:
10 lbs. Whole kernel corn, untreated
5 Gallons Water
1 Cup Yeast, champagne yeast starter
DIRECTIONS:
Put corn in a burlap bag and wet with warm water. Place bag in a warm dark
Place and keep moist for about ten days. When the sprouts are about a 1/4" long
The corn is ready for the next step. Wash the corn in a tub of water, rubbing
The sprouts and roots off... Throw the sprouts and roots away and transfer the
Corn into your primary ferment. With a pole or another hard object mash the
Corn; make sure all kernels are cracked. Next add 5 gallons of boiling water
And when the mash cools add yeast. Seal fermented and vent with a water sealed
Vent. Fermentation will take 7-10 days. When fermentation is done, pour into
Still filtering through a pillow case to remove all solids.

My daddy and grandpa both made moonshine, but I never tasted it. Don't drink tax-paid licker, either. The closest I've come to drinking "moonshine" is Diet Mountain Dew. I love it. I've told many people that if Mountain Dew was moonshine, I'd be a drunk! lol

Carefully. Distilling is a complex chemical process, and it has some flammable by-products that can make it dangerous. Also, temperature control is critical to the outcome of the product, and you can wind up with some nasty results if you don't do it right. Bottom line is do your research and be careful.

Now that you have tipped off federal folks by advertising that you intend to engage in an illegal (in the US) activity...use the Internet and search.
