I have seen people pick up plates of food..six packs of beer and pop and march out of the party with their heads held high and sometime we run out of food for the late coming guests. I have stopped more then one couple..as women are as bad as the men..am i wrong to do this?

It's really inconsiderate but there's not much you can say to those kind of people. We all try to honor those stores that have the sign that reads " No food or drinks allowed inside "...wouldn't you just love to post one that read...." NO Carry Outs ! "...

Since when did a party become the free grocery store for some people? How rude! If I bring food for a party, I expect to leave all of it for the guests and if there are any leftovers, I hope the hosts will keep it for later unless they insist I take it home. If they are taking their own food home before the party ends, I would understand that the dish it came in needs to go back with them, but a generous guest would have offered to transfer it to one of the host's dishes. I really don't know what to say to such inconsiderate people. Just don't invite them again.

Talk to them about it, but if they do it one more time, don't invite them anymore. They can take the leftovers from the food they brought but not other people's food. They are supposed to wait until the host OFFERS to let them take food home. Otherwise, they should assume that the food will stay at the party or be kept by the host.

No, I think they are in the wrong. It'd be one thing if the party was over and you had a lot left over and you OFFERED it. But to just go and take it...especially before it's over? Very rude!

Tell them you and a group of friends helping to clean up the next morning are having the leftovers for breakfast! (Even if you're not.)

Or you could try serving things in fancy bowls so they are not 'available'.

And of course, don't invite them again!

Rudeness begets an appropriate response from you. Next time they stock up on food and booze should be their last at your parties.

If they brought a passing dish and want to take the dish home they should ask you to transfer it to another container. Otherwise they are just plain rude.
