Are there any books, etc. that teach interracial Little girls how to manage their hair?
I know an 11yo girl who is half white/half black. She lives in Germany with an all white family & all white community. She has beautiful hair that most would kill for, except - she has no idea how to style or take care of it - she never has, & theres no one around her to help her. She hates her hair, is embarassed about it & for years has been sad & wished she had straight, "white" girls hair. Her hair type is THICK & SUPER kinky & with some guidance she could grow to love & appreciate what she has. ANY help that I could pass on to her would be soooooo wonderful, THANX!

There are web sites for this. I have a mixed 3 year old daughter and I combe her hair while its wet with a wide toothed comb, never while its dry... I use spray on detangler and hair lotion. She just needs to do a little research. There are magazines, like Sophisticates Black Hair that she could subscribe to. I'm sorry that she feels so isolated.
