I don't like the daylight running lights feature on my explorer. Is there any way to turn the feature off so that my headlights come on when I turn them on myself?

Check your owner's manual, there may be a sequence of dome light/ignition key actions that control this function. At least it does on my Ford car.

You sure it's DRL and not autolamps?

Daytime running lamps will only have the headlights on.. no other lights will be on... only way to kill it is to change the module with a plug under the fender on drivers side... There is also a fuse for it, but I don't remember if it kills some other stuff off also with it..

If the tail lamps and your gauges are lit also, then your issue is with autolamp... Slide the slider piece at the bottom of your rearview mirror to the left to shut it off (you will feel it notch off) which I think is your whole problem

But as someone said, If you are in Canada, you can't disable Daytime running lamps

ABS stands for 'Anti-lock Brake equipment' It prevents your whhels from locking up throughout a panic end, subsequently permitting you to stay on properly of problems with the route of your motorcar. The equipment makes use of wheel velocity sensors to come back across wheel slip, an digital brake administration module (EBCM) to calculate inputs which in turn instructions outputs to the ABS pump/motor which pulses a series of valves open and closed. This simulates the motive force pumping the brakes on a non-ABS equiped motorcar, in trouble-free words this equipment does is about one hundred circumstances a 2d. i'm no longer favourite with fords, as i artwork for GM, notwithstanding the platforms are similar. Your difficulty would nicely be a wheel velocity sensor, module, or pump/motor, or the electric powered wiring that hyperlinks all of those at the same time. The yellow ABS uncomplicated is usaully an illustration of an electric powered fault, even as the pink brake caution lamp is a trademark of a more beneficial intense, doubtlessly risky hydraulic fualt. if you aren't from now on in any prompt probability out of your ABS uncomplicated on, your vehcile gained't pass the state inspection. i guidance you're taking your motorcar to a nicely wide-spread, powerfuble mechanic who makes a speciality of brakes, or perhaps more beneficial efficient, a FORD broking. stay removed from Brake end/ Brake verify or Meinekie; they promote you all forms of unnecessary upkeep which will finally end up costing you more beneficial $$ and bigger hardship.

If you live in Canada, you can't. They are required on all cars. If not it's still not a good idea, they are there for safety after all. Some dealers will refuse to do it, and claim it's against Federal regulations. It's not (yet). Keep looking until you find a dealer or mechanic who will if you really want to.
