If she is filing a return, she must report all income earned. She can not file a return to try to claim child credits and not report the income she earned during the year.
Besides, all employers send copies of the W2 statements to the government. If she files a return which is missing the income reported by her employer, the return will most likely be rejected or flagged for audit.

When you say you've been claiming 3 kids a year, you do know that means you submitted 3 copies of form 8332 (or pages from the divorce decree) and ONLY claimed the exemption and child tax credit, right? To file for 2010, you attach the same paperwork you have always attached. If you can't efile, mail the return in. The IRS will review the paperwork, and will act on it. By the way, if the boyfriend does the publication 501 support test and can prove that HE provided more than half of the children's total support, then he is legally entitled to claim the children and the form 8332 is null and void. If he can't prove that, he can't claim the child at all. In that case only the mother or you can legally claim them. Do not discount the value of housing/food in support, though when divided by 8, it might not be that much. Ditto for your child support.

If you are saying that she didn't claim on her W4 that she had a child, Claimed single with -0- instead of single with 1, and she wants to know if she can still claim her child on her Federal Tax return, YES she can file and claim her child.
The W4 just tells the employer how much to take in Federal Taxes out of her wages. Claiming single with -0- just tells the employer to take the maximum tax amount allowed based on her wages.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. One does not "claim her tax returns for her job."
If she had more than $8,450 of income from wages, she must file a tax return. If she earned less than that but had income taxes withheld from her pay, she must file to get a refund of those taxes.
Since she has a child, she may qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. She must file a tax return to claim that.

If you earn money, you have to file your income taxes. If some money was taken out of your pay, it is the only way to get the money back. If you have more than one deduction, claim all of the deductions that you qualify for.
