With Russia blasting the US for wanting to deploy anti-ballistic missiles in Poland and Czechoslovakia, could this be seen as a step into another bitter Cold War? Russia is also intent on creating ballistic missiles that can overcome any defense the US currently has in its arsenal.

Not a chance...

America and Russia are so deeply joined at the hip by oil money that it makes Viagra look like a placebo.

And yes, I am well aware of the Sakhalin Island issue, Khodorovsky, etc. There is still just as much money to be made in Russia by big business, U.S. or otherwise, It's just that it's going to be on the Russian government's terms now.

These little upbursts that you hear in the press is carefully orchestrated to appease the little people who then run bawling to their leaders to protect them from the "bad guys". There are similar outbursts that appear like clockwork in the Russian press; usually by ultranationalists like Vladirmir Zhirinovsky.

Our leaders then vigorously and publicly flog the "Fear" whipping boy, while invoking the name of holy righteousness.

Afterwards, they chuckle while counting the money they have made in the process.

Nope. SS/DS...

The US has offended Russia in several ways over the last 20 years, primarily by breaking several treaties in ways that threaten Russia's security. The best three examples I can remember off the top of my head are a unilateral withdrawl from arms-control treaties that were signed with the Soviet Union in the early 90s, the acceptance of Russia's close neighbours into NATO despite having promised not to do so, and having US military bases in nearby countries that have an active missle shield component. The second is a factor because Russia is not part of NATO and NATO was originally a military defence bloc intended primarily against the Soviet Union (it is still seen partly as being anti-Russian). The third is a factor because Russian-American relations still have elements of detente to them, and the close presence of US military bases with technology that makes some parts of the Russian military less effective is threatening to them. In sum, Russia feels threatened by America's breaking of treaties, military blocs that move ever closer to their borders but will never include them, and American deployment of systems that nullify parts of their military.

In the way things are going, everyone gets the jitters. Could this be a new escalation of the arms race looming over the horizon?. It seems to be that a new Cold War is building up. The previous Cold War was dangerous enough, but was kept in control by the pursuit of diplomacy by the superpowers. But with this new Cold War, there is no diplomacy whatsoever. The tensions continue to build-up without any diplomatic dialogue between the superpowers. If events are allowed to continue like this without any change in the foreign policy of the superpowers, World War III will be a reality.

It seems that way, doesn't it? With the US and NATO in the process of inducting former USSR states into NATO (Ukraine,Georgia,Albania and Kazakhstan...to name a few) and the introduction of anti-ballistic missile sites into surrounding European countries, Russia is beginning to have a NATO introduced new "Iron Curtain" around it's own borders.

In my opinion... I think before too awful long we are going to trip into the III World War. If you notice over the years since we went to Iraq that more and more countries become involved. Its' all just a matter of time.

The cold war between Russia and US was just a crock. The Jews were thinking about backing Russia, but decided to stay neutral. Isn't it strange they claimed the best way to defeat communism was to outpsend it, but the way to defeat everyone else is to bomb the **** out of them.

It sure does look that way.

If it does happen, it will be The USA who is at fault.

This Country has become too aggressive in the past 8 years and if we don't change our policies, we will be heading for Cold War II.
