I think one of the most important aspects of parenting ( esp. as kids get older) is the ability to say, "I was wrong, please forgive me". I am by no means a perfect parent and my kids know that.
It builds our relationship and the trust between us when I am honest with them and "own" my mistakes and learn from them.
I like that I enjoy my children and that they are not a burden in any way - they know they are loved and that my husband and I enjoy being with them.
Good question,
Mom of 5 with another on the way

I encourage my children to do and try new things. I compliment them all the time on the things they do. My eldest is in Gifted and I have told him since he was a toddler how smart he is. My youngest is very athletic, you get the point. I think by standing behind them 100%. I have always told them that I may not always like what they do, but I will always love them and be there for them.

hmm. well i am a single mom, so what i like best is the fact that my son is growing up healthy and he is getting all the things he needs i like that i still (even having a full time job) have all the time in the world to help him learn new things. i like that i get to be me and he gets to see what mom is really all about about, he is 17 months old and the love of my life.

I truly think one of the most important things that makes a good parent is the ability to listen. You don't have to agree with whats being said, but if you listen and they know you'll listen, chances are they too will listen.

I'm very patient with my son. He's 17 months old and can be a stinker sometimes, but I keep my cool. I'm also a big kid at heart, so he always has a playmate!!

I've been able to teach them to be respectful and helpful. They are loving and are the best kids in the world.

I am always there for my daughter and she can talk to me about anything-communication is key.
I know alot of kids who do not talk to their parents about problems they have.
My daughter will always come to me when she is sad, happy, upset, angry- I am glad she trusts me enough to know I would never judge her-just be there.

I let my kids be kids.. I encourage imaginations and let them free play as much as possible..
I think in this day and age, we are so focused on preparing them for their future, we dont let them have a present..

Unconditional love and not sweating the small stuff. She can make mistakes and know I still love her.
