********************BEST ANSWER HERE******************
The decisions ultimately rests on you - period.
If you feel uncomfortable with the pressure and ultimatum from your boyfriend, then he will probably take your answer to continue living with your friend as rejection.
This is where the male ego will kick in - in most cases, where he starts to sabotage the relationship because his pride has taken a hit.
On the other hand, if he respects you AND the relationship, then he will understand how you feel and wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable.
Remember, all he did was ASK a question. The ANSWER should be given AND accepted without conditions.
If there is some static behind your decision to remain where you are, then he will feel rejected. Depends on his maturity level of how long it will take to get over it.

Good luck!

Tell him how you feel. He probably feels a little insecure with you living in a commune. (stupid as it may sound) If you are happy where you are than your bf should respect that.
