I know i would be if i was American. How can the worlds super power, the supposedly richest nation on the planet, do this to it's own people. I think it's disgusting. Doesn't say a lot for the people running the country does it.

well you haven't been to see it since its mosly rebuilt. i live on the east coast but i have family there on the gulf coast. Katrina messed up so much its gonna take years to rebuild everything.America like all of the country's are having a hard time hiring trades people. that do construction. so no i wouldnt say im ashamed very proad at the new rebuild down there shows ya how strong we are we just keep comeing back stronger than ever. you also have to remeber that the insurance companys almost went broke and the constrution teams down there are working 7 days a week. ive been to work down there its not a pretty site most of the homes there are rebuilt or settled with the insurance. the roads and stuff like that are still messed up

I live in the Hurricane Disaster area....the areas in New Orleans that are still in disarray are the housing projects and the poverty areas that the homes were not insured - being the owner's fault!
The housing areas should be torn down and cleaned out, all it housed was the lazy people who didn't want to work, called the "gimme" people. Let them get a job and pay rent instead of relying on the tax payers to support their sorry butts and pay for all of their illegitimate kids. We give enough, help is for those who help themselves, which these people don't do!

I am not ashamed that it hasn't been rebuilt, I am more ashamed of the fact that help couldn't get to the people at the Louisiana Superdome more quickly. I am ashamed that people that left before the storm refused to take any passengers.

I am ashamed that we are always being hit up for money to "help undeveloped nations", yet we have plenty of homeless, and jobless people here. I am ashamed that rather than have EVERYONE that comes to this country and benefits from being here (either by having a job, getting low-income housing, medical help, welfare, social security, etc....) isn't expected to learn to speak English. Instead, we are all being trained to speak Spanish. (What about the immigrants from France, China, Vietnam, Africa, etc???)

Why should we be ashamed that mother nature destroyed billions of dollars coast line? Do you realize how much more expensive insurance is in the area? We cleaned up the mess that was made and now have miles of open coast that looks pretty nice.

I am not ashamed and no one else should be. Many Katrina victims are now living here in Houston, Texas. They have not retuned to New Orleans or Louisiana which is why the area is still in chaos.

No that place will just have another hurricane so why fix it. Those people can move or find a way to live there without my tax paying money. If my house burns down and I don't have insurance its my fault not yours

Uh, no, I'm not ashamed. I haven't made a decision to spend a billion dollars a day in Iraq. Nor did I vote for the party supporting that spending decision.

Americans and in particular their politicians, are not ashamed of anything that they do or in this case DONT do. That is why no other nation in the world and that includes the UK likes them
