Right now ! Why ? Because we are arguably, right in the most pivotal period in our history. What we do in the next few years will most almost certainly, decide if the youngest people that exist now on the planet, have much of a future by the time they have become the senior generation.
The issues are many from global warming, pandemic diseases, internecine armed conflicts, the growing armies of the landless and powerless, access to clean and adaquate water supplies, to client nation status that characterizes present relations beween rich and poor countries that keep the poor in those countries poor and often oppressed. And this is only a small number in the list that keeps the doomsday clock ticking - the clock that scientists use to guage our present chances of survival - just a few minutes before midnight.
You probably found that last paragraph pretty depressing and have started scrolling for more jolly answers Well, I can't blame you and I can't disagree with you, but you must admit we live in interesting times !
The reason I want to be here, rather then at any other time is that I am very interested to see if we are going to make it. I want to see if people, governments and organizations can gather up first the will and then to see if they, me, you can arrive at the right answers, develop workable strategies and actually put them in place. I want to see if we can develop an on-going connection with ourselves, each other and the world we live in.
Like you, I've got a lot riding here in that we can produce the greatest escape story ever told - our escape from inevitable extinction if we have managed at last to learn not only from the past but what is happening right now under our noses.

Sometime in the future. Hopefully life will be easier and things will be even better. I wouldn't like to live in the past in any of the time periods, being a woman I would have to put up with a lot of aggro from men and society in general. It's much easier for women these days.

The 80's. When I was a child there was great music, great TV, great everything. I also like the 50s but I wouldn't choose to live then.
