i have a Belkin 802.11g Wireless Notebook Network Card. i installed the software and when asked to insert the network card in the laptop slot, i did that.

once the software fully installed, i clicked on internet explorer icon, a page displayed stating that "This page is not currently available".

the laptop is connected through a router. how can i get the laptop to work through a router?

Run the network setup! Click start, go to programs, accessories, communications, network setup wizard.

Adjust the LAN settings so that the network recognises your router

you have to connect the router to your computer wired, then set up the wireless settings. then you should see your wireless router on your laptop.

I think you should contact your service provider. They can talk you through the process.

maybe it was just one page, try multiple web pages before you freak out, it might just be the site.
