Seems like someone asks this question every other day. It is because of the stereotype that goes along with getting/having them. The rough biker/sailor image. Body art is so wide spread that it should no longer have a stereotype. My 65 yr old mother has one. I am Southern Baptist, attend church regularly, and there are several people there that have a few. Wouldnt surprise me if the President of these United States didnt have a little one somewhere on his body. I have 24 tattoo's, I'm 33 yrs old, and a mother of five. Just a regular person that happens to love body art.

It is your body.
The problem is most people don't use their brain when they get a tat.
For centuries, different cultures have used tats, knowing WHY they got them and WHERE to put them.
Western culture, void of historical significance and full of ignorance, sees the tat as a way to show independence or originality...when in fact, most are doing it because their friends are doing it.
And then, after a few years, the tat gets blotchy and unsightly.
And the person thinks: "oh, this wasn't such a good idea".
Then they pay big bucks to have it removed.
What a waste of money.
I've seen a lot of great tats, but I would not have one.
If you want to get one, at least try to learn from other cultures the significance and try NOT to follow trends.

I think one reason why they don't like them is because they think the human body should be left the way god made it. I have 7 tattoo's, and plan on getting more. I think if you like the tattoo, or if you like tattoo's hey its your body do what you want with it..

people just don t seem to understand that it is the individuals body and it is down to them what they have on there skin it is mostly ignorent people who don t like them and still believe that it means the tattood person is some kindoff criminal and the only other people who should be alowed them are in the forces> Personaly I like tattoos and i have them and I don t see why i should be told that it is wrong to put a tattoo on my skin my take on it all is if you don't like them don't get them or look at them but leave people to there own devices

i think tats are great and if people don't like it then they don't need to look at it. i am a professional and i am allowed to have my tats showing as long as they are not offensive which they aren't at my job we can also have piercings. who's would have known employers would finally lighten up on people with tats and piercings! I mean they have been around forever. some people thinks it's not acceptable and all i have to say to that is that's just too damn bad. don't let peoples opinion affect what you want.

I think tattoos are ok on men. On the back not all over the body. On woman they look cheap, disgusting and like they have just come out of jail. Often you see a beautiful woman in a lovely dress looking gorgeous until you see the tattoos on her arms, here i am referring to Angelina Jolie, looks common .
