The problem might not be that they dont work.. Fleas can get into your carpet and other bedding..& Animals like if you have a cat... if you live in a place where its warm like in the south.. the fleas wont die in the winter cuz there is not hard freeze... So they can be outside.. Or if you pet is around alot of outside animals.. like cats or other dogs.. they could be giving the fleas back.. your best bet and this is what I did... give your dog a bath often, plus you will need to get a carpet powder(if you have carpet) that will kill fleas.. you can get that at Walmart or at a pet store.. yes the vet can give you stuff that will go on the back of the dogs neck to help kill the fleas... Also flea collar will help cut down... Also you can get a spray for the yard to help kill the flea cycle.. I also went and put the "flea & tick" powder you put on the dogs, I would put it on where my dogs would lay often like under my desk.. or on there little beds..the powder seemed to work well for places like that..
Some dogs are allergic to flea and tick bites... My Chow is that way if she gets a flea bite.. she will bite & scratch till she bleeds.. a vet can give you something for that...
Hope this helps some.. fleas are a pain... if you get to many as in the case when I lived in Tennessee the fleas.. Can and will start to bite people..
Breaking the Flea life cycle is the key... Good luck!!!

Not only do you need to treat your dog with Frontline or something similar, but you also need to treat your house.
Take the dog to the vet - The vet will be able to get the dog on an appropriate flea treatment. The dog may also be alergic to fleas which will cause excessive itching.
Cal an exterminator to come and treat your house - The do-it-yourself bombs aren't nearly as effective. You need 3 treatments to kill the fleas lifecycle, then periodic treatments after that.

Fleas are more than just an annoyance for you. Take him to the vet and get some prescription flea control. The over-the-counter flea medicine is not guarenteed, and can cause seizures or death if used improperly. His scratching may also have caused wounds that may become infected. The fleas themselves could carry disease, as well, and transfer it to your pet.

No flea medicine is 100% but you can go to the vet without you dog and ask for flea medicine. frontline for my 110 masstif was oly $15 and it lasted a month. I have heard Advantix is really good as well. You can also go to your local feed store and the have all that stuff for you as well and is often cheaper than the vets price. Or you can order it online. Good luck.

Have you tried frontline plus yet? If that doesn't work ,yeah take him to the vet. They also have a yard treatment for fleas and ticks that works pretty good-made by ortho I think.

In addition to treating your dog, you must remove the fleas and flea eggs from your home. You don't need expensive exterminators, you can purchase the flea killer and spray yourself. The important thing is to vacuum thouroghly after you use it, including your couches. Remove the vacuum bag and discard it, as the eggs can hatch in there. I hope this helps! I know how much it sucks to have fleas in your house.

yes you should take him to the vet for treatment, also bath him and brush his coat with a fine tooth comb, this should remove alot of the fleas.
you also need to treat your house or the dogs kennel and bedding.
They get every where, so you probably need to get the house fumigated

Poor dog!
Take him to the vet. You will get something to wash him with. You wash him a couple of times, some days apart. Also, if he has a blanket or something he sleeps on, you'll have to wash that.
My dog had fleas, but it was easy to get rid of them.
