If I am not mistaken, all cops around the world practice the adage of reactive action rather than proactive. That is why they are cops rather than soldiers.

Although many has argued that there is a war against terrorism, police forces around the world are not empowered to shoot first and ask questions later.

In cases involving suspected terrorists, chances are, the intelligence community would have come up with a pretty strong conclusion that one is a suspected terrorist after which it will be passed to an elite unit of law enforcement which have been given the legal right to use necessary force when conducting a take down.

If there is no immediate overt action on the suspected terrorist that precipitates harm to others, policemen are not allowed to open fire.

The UK police most probably shoot less people in year than some police forces abroad do in a day.I was in the police for thirty years and my force shot one person in that time so where does this bad record of shootings come in?

You do exactly as they say, as they may interpret your cries of innocence as a pre-ignition roar.

If anyone British police officer points a weapon at you, then they are already convinced you are a threat - so listen carefully and don't panic. We all know what happens if you do!

I don't know that there is any way to defend yourself against another persons paranoia. Best bet is to do whatever he tells you to do and be as pleasant about it as possible under the circumstances. Running away and jumping over the ticket barriers will probably not help.

You don't defend yourself. You do what your told and you won't be shot. Armed Police officers in the UK will not shoot unless they have too.

Why dont you go around with body armour & a steel hat like the troops in Iraq.

Also have a big sign made front & back stating

'I am not a terrorist please don't shoot'
