I see this as appreciative, but leaving it with a still distant note. I feel she is still feeling you out, and waiting for you to ask her on the second night out. Don't take this as a rejection. I don't think you lit the fireworks on her that first date. Besides, first date and the kiss is kinda like a leap of faith. Well, you know a little more about her frm that first date ; keep her interested....

Power play on her part. Perhaps not consciously doing it but the result is the same she is playing hard to get and testing you out. You don't have to be a jerk with her but you need to be the man.

Play a little hard to get yourself. Get close then move away. For example move in for the kiss, but then get distracted and disengage. This creates emotional tension that can only be resolved by.....you guessed it, finnishing the kiss.

Where most guys come unstuck is that they don't have the self control to take charge of situations like these. Women know this and often take advantage. Take that advantage back.

Here is a great article on just this topic:

I wouldn't worry too much about this. The fact that she kissed your cheek rather than backing away indicates that she cares about you in some way, at least.

Just relax and take things slowly. One of the worst things you can do, at any stage of a relationship, is to read too much into things. You've made her aware of your feelings, so don't pressure her and you'll see where you stand soon enough.

Good luck.

She's interested, but she's not ready for the full blown out kisses. A lot of females aren't always open to kissing on the first date. So that could have been a sign that she wasn't ready for it. Just keep talking to her and things will pan out.

don't worry about "most guys." if you're just trying to get in her pants, then you should feel rejected. if you really like her, then you should feel honored that she kissed you at ALL on your first date.

First date, thats pretty good. You are getting somewhere.
Wait till next time. If not next time, polay aloof for a while and let her come to you. be nice though

This means she is interested, but not exactly sure if she is ready to start a relationship with you.
