Hi,

I am posting this for a friend. She has a 13 week old Poodle puppy and for the last few evenings she has been having minor seizures. The puppy would get dizzy and shake and loose bladder control. This morning when she woke up the puppy can't even stand without falling over and walks erratically. She is going to the vet with it this morning but if anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreciated

This is not a minor situation. Small breed puppies are prone to getting hypoglycemic. Have her put some Karo syrup on the puppies gums and get to the vet asap! The more seizures she has, the more likely she is to do permanent damage to her brain or organs. Hopefully this is all it is and not something even more serious like a liver shunt.

The puppy may have gotten into something that has poisoned him or he may be epileptic. Please add what breed the dog is.... Some dogs are more prone to seizures. I would advise your friend that if the dog recovers..... Do not start barbituates or other drugs until she takes the dog off of dog food. Feed him people food. Believe me it is not that expensive I spend less than a dollar a day to feed an 80lb sheppard/lab and a 20lb jack/chi. Please have your friend find the book "Food Pets Die For" it explains alot and may well be the best book sahe could ever read.

I would have taken her to the vet after the first seizure happened. Some dogs are epileptic and need to be on medication just as humans do that is probably what her problem is. But since your friend has waited so long to take her in then she has probably done irreversable damage. Good luck.

Steps: See Vet, kidney analysis, possible xray, dewormer.

May have parasites on brain if this bad but I hope not.
