Good communication. Really listening to each other.
Try to keep the romance alive - spend time alone together. It doesn't have to cost money, a moonlight walk or a candlelit meal at home can be romantic.
Try not to forget important dates - anniversaries, Valentine's day, birthdays. All part of being considerate.
it is hard work but well worth it!!!

I could give you the usual by saying trust, love understanding communcation and all the rest of the possible answers you can give, but the real answer is two people make a relationship work. Everyone is different and there is no right or wrong answers.

I guess that depends on whether you're a man or a woman. Read Why Men Love B1tches by Sherry Argov - it's a great and definitive look at how women can hold their own in a relationship. If you go to Amazon you can look inside the first few pages.

Ive been with my partner for 20 years, and we are happier than ever.I think the key things to a sucessful relationship are trust, feeling comfortable with yourself is important, and putting the other person before yourself.Relationships take a lot of time and effort to be a sucess, but if you love one another and think you have a future together youll suceed.I also think its important to have your own interests outside a relationship.good luck

Some of the answers on here, what a load of cr*p. Unless she fully understands that its your god-given right to do what you want and that she is oblidged to fall in line it will never work. Good luck anyway, nowadays the good women are hard to find. They like having there own little jobs and stuff, crazy i know.

As in a couple rather than friends? Respect is the main ingredient, then love, understanding and patience and being able to listen to each other.

hi,
understanding your companions needs and he understanding yours, willing to talk to each other not at each other, lessening to what each one has to say, given them the space need to workout his/her problems and knowing that the both of you are in the relationship together and are both adult enough to make your own decisions, not one or the other trying to over power the other.

Trust, respect and being prepared to put others before yourself. It's also important to always say what you think, however painful it might be.
