I break things as an outlet for stress...it keeps me from hitting people more often than not, because I have a tendency to get violent when I get extremely pissed off, and they haven't found a medication yet that makes that any better for me. Anger management didn't work for me, and both my shrink and my counselor have said that having things to break (ie boards, blocks, things that aren't like irreplaceable family heirlooms) is actually a good outlet for me since many of the other things aren't working. This is not necessarily the way they want me to handle my anger, but for now it seems to be the only way to deal for me. Sometimes I just throw things too...that's not always a good thing, as I have a bad habit of doing that inside of my house, and usually then the things that get broken are things that aren't replacable. I once made a fork stick into a piece of paneling wallboard.

I find that for me it can be a good outlet for stress, as long as I don't go overboard and lose control. While I can't help you out with any sites online to tell you go check out, if you want to email me, feel free. Good luck.

Brake plates are friction plates and therefore increase "stress" between the rotor or drum and the brake shoes or pads and cause the car to stop.

OH.

Breaking plates!! I think one reason people break stuff in a rage is to demonstrate the extent of the rage and to intimidate others to "listen up". It can be effective, But instead of gaining the respectful attention of another, you generally get fearful compliance at best.

The effect to the breaker himself may be calming, perhaps, once he/she realizes that their rage is out of control enough to damage valuable goods. Then you have the guilt of being such an out of control idiot.

Managing anger means that you control your temper BEFORE damage to persons or property occurs. If breaking stuff feels good when you get angry, have a place in the back yard where you've stocked garage sale dinnerware. Go nuts... get control.
(the downside is the stuff ain't valuable, so it lacks the drama.)
Go back inside and start talking calmly. Then you might be heard respectfully.

I can't unfortunately give you any sites but I am sure that by researching you should be able to come up with some. I am thinking that throwing things may NOT be the most healthy or safe way to relieve stress. Sounds strange, but for me crying helps a lot. You don't have to do it in front of anyone or let anyone you have broken down like that but like the old song on Marlo Thomas; "Free To Be, You and Me" LP sung by Roosevelt Grier, "It's all right to cry" and the song goes on to say, "Crying gets the sad out of you." Trivial but it works! Saves a lot of cleaning up and broken items.

Trust me, any relief you get will be short lived and replaced eventually by guilt. It is considered normal, to a point, for young men to react to anger and stress by hitting walls, or maybe breaking things. My sons Dr. told me this , on his second broken hand. So, guess you might not be so far off, if the things you break are your own? Are they? Forgive yourself, vow to do better and move on. It's ok. You are on the right path by asking. Keep it positive. Find a positive out let for this energy. Chop wood, cut weeds , break up/clean bricks....

I think it actually makes it worse.
Now, when you have stress, your first reaction will be to break something.

Here is how I think of stress.
I am an engineer. I used to lock my car using the remote.
Well, sometimes I would forget to roll up the windows, so what did I do? I would curse and be upset.
Well, somebody figured out a way to have the windows automatically roll up when you hit the remote.

I broke too many things when I was younger.
Just walk away, take a breath and think about it.

Braking things can lessen up one's madness... 'coz when you bang things out, you somehow release the anger you have and transfer it to the things you throw.
