The awareness is already there.

You don't have to do much.
• Turn off lights and appliances you're not using.
• Use bikes and public transport when possible.
• Buy 'green' products.

You could do more but even that would be enough to help, believe it or not. If everyone did just those three things the world would start to breathe easier.

Maybe if more people knew HOW EASY it was they wouldn't feel so hopeless about it and just close their minds to it.
Global warming or not, we waste too much anyway and should stop our gluttonous ways regardless.

Here's what YOU could do (for a start):

-Talk to the people you know about global warming and (if you really want to be eco-friendly) discuss with them different methods on how to conserve the environment to prevent--you guessed it--the greenhouse effect (eg. use less CFCs).

-Try to be as 'ecological' as possible, use items that are environmentally-friendly... there are so many ways.

The reason I ended here was because I would like you to continue finding out the answer (using my points as a guideline) by doing research etc. That's the best way to learn!

I also will want you to ponder over this question: Does Man need the Environment more or does the Environment need Man more? Good luck in discovering an unlimited source of knowledge on this topic. Who knows? If you work hard enough, you could be a Reader's Digest Eco Hero!

Keep Lying. If you tell yourself that global warming exists enough times you'll start to believe it. and its the same with others. Keep repeating it long enough and there are those out there that will believe it. But if you really believe in it your self, take steps to show that it is real. No one has ever given any proof that the climate can be effected by man(other than a nuclear blast, and even then the effect is only short term), so prove it with real science. Don't just take what others say for granted. THINK for yourself. If it is real and is effected by mankind, it will be very easy to prove. But remember, It will take real data to show it exists. And don't fall into the Algore followers crowd. Every claim put forward in his movie has been discounted by every legitimate scientist on the planet. And remember, "consensus" is not proof, it is only still a theory and opinion.

First you need to find concrete PROOF that humans can actually make a SIGNIFICANT difference in Global Warming...

So far, too many people believe that natural phenomenon outweigh anything humans can do and so we cannot prevent global warming.. so it is a natural cycle of events...

How much Carbon Dioxide does a Volcano spew out during an eruption? How much Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, and Sulphur Dioxide does a forest fire create?

Once again we see the republicans say they want what is best for working class Americans, only to show their real colors of the Working Rich Class. But Democrats aren't any better saying lets give free health care away tto the low income class which draws food stamps has HUD pay for their housing, pays their electric gas water and sewer at your new increased tax expense from the real middle to low working class which has to pay for everything themselves with higher taxation.. Both are feeding America a bunch of GARBAGE Really Isn't it time for both of these parties to find out the power of the people? Lets make America once again the America of the People for the people and by the people Vote 3rd party

Well there was one show that I saw that showed all of the CO2 coming out of things we use everyday, i.e. cars, factories, even general electricity burning in our house overnight, and that really got my attention. A car race like the Daytona 500 or the LeMans 24 hour race, they generate so much CO2 it's absolutely ridiculous. I think that we need to first ban that type of racing until we find a cleaner fuel source or until we solve the global warming issue.

Inform yourself on the issue so that when you have conversations with friends, neighbors, or political representatives, you have a solid foundation for your opinions. Try to influence the conversations by providing facts and being open to new ideas from multiple sources.

Get you facts from original sources - there are plenty available. Do not accept the opinions of people on here at face value, or the opinions of pundits or politicians. You've got a world of information available to you on the Internet - look for credentials, look for majority professional consensus.

Then act on what you know.

by educating yourself, so you can educate people like firshizel and tom.
by having firshizel, read some real science journals, and then having people like tom take a look at this:

Scientists have calculated that volcanoes emit between about 130-230 million tonnes (145-255 million tons) of CO2 into the atmosphere every year (Gerlach, 1999, 1992). This estimate includes both subaerial and submarine volcanoes, about in equal amounts. Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 22 billion tonnes per year (24 billion tons) [ ( Marland, et al., 1998) Human activities release more than 150 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes--the equivalent of nearly 17,000 additional volcanoes like Kilauea (Kilauea emits about 13.2 million tonnes/year)!
