Could you give a little more info? This could be anything from harmless reverse sneezing (sounds a little like when people have a cold and suck the snot back up their nose instead of getting a kleenex), or a sign of potentially serious breathing problems (wheezing or coughing). Or, does it sound like the dog is trying to hack up a hairball? How long has this been going on?

Due to the breeding of pedigree dogs to emphisise the breed characteristics side effects can cause genetic problems. All owners of dogs and puppies are concerned about the health care of their pets and just as with humans dog health issues arise from time to time. Resolving dog health problems, including those of the West Highland Terrier, can prove to be costly and it would be wise to consider the benefits of obtaining dog health insurance. Diseases in dogs may occur because of trauma, infection, immune system abnormalities, genetic factors, or degenerative conditions. Common health problems and questions occur in relation to the Bones, Joints, Muscles, Nerves, Ears, Eyes, Teeth and the Mouth. Other, more serious, issues can relate to the Digestive System, Heart & Respiratory Systems, Immune & Blood Systems, Reproduction and Urinary Systems.

Take her to the vets! I had the same problem not long ago, it turned out it wasnt anything to serious, but an infection, which with a course of antibiotics and some steriods it has cleared up!!
Take to the vets and put you mind at rest, they will find out the cause! Dont panic yourself , it could be something very silly!! Good luck!!

sounds like she might have a lack of calcium in her system, she will be using alot of her own up to fed the puppies, If you take her to the vet they should be able to give her a calcium injection and some tablets for you to give her, This is quite serious and does need seeing to if it is what I think, If she is shaking as well that is a sign that it is calcium

you would be able to desire to take administration of the dogs and alter into the dominant source or %. chief via fact the dogs will see it!! you will desire to teach the domestic dog that what you assert is going. initiate via making a noisy noise, clanging of pans and so on. while he is going right into a predator state, or via giving him a forceful faucet on the realm of the neck on a similar time as a noisy 'NO'. that's how a dogs would superb his habit, with a sharp chew to the neck. you will desire to make the domestic dog calm after which you introduce the cat. as quickly via fact the dogs is going to even seem on the cat you will desire to superb him, you're in seek of for the domestic dog to start via fending off the region thoroughly. you will desire to continually proceed to be calm while introducing the cat, while you're stressful in any way it's going to make the domestic dog react in a unfavorable way. you will desire to shop doing this many times returned, and at last the dogs will different than him. undergo in strategies a Cairn is element of the terrier breed, they have been clothier to kill different animals and have been used for ratting for some years, so they're harder to coach to different than different smaller animals. you will desire to make the dogs comprehend which you do no longer enable him to chase the different animal, no longer purely your cat. as in case you enable him to chase birds or ducks he will circulate back into his predator state and attack your cat. that's continually harder to coach organic breeds to lose their organic tendencies, yet you will get there interior the top.
