What kind of picture? If it's in JPEG format, edit it in photoshop or corel photo point, use the erase tool or clone stamp tool to edit it. But if it is in the editable format, like PSD for photoshop, you can simple use the text tool to edit it, just select the text tool and point it to the word that you want to edit, and same goes with Corel PhotoPaint or CorelDRAW, you should try using those softwares, so that you can change that some sort of specific word that you didn't describe. It's the best image editing tool in the world I guess. If you'll learn to use it, you can change that word of your's as simple as an egg pie ;)

it depends on the background of the text...
if it's not complicate you can easily change or remove it using adobe photoshop
if it is, you can change it too but you'd need more expirence with adobe photoshop

There's no way of doing it. You should have the original picture and edit it with paint, there you can put any text you want.
