Yes it is not possible for normal people. Khechry mudra cant be done by ordinary people... we need lot of Tantrik rituals (like cutting base of tongue)...before it is mastered. ...and without a trained guru, it is impossible to learn, in exact manner

However during samadhi, one fixes Khetchari automatically

There are four different processes practiced in four different ages,
1-Satya-dhyana
2.Treta-yajna
3.Dvapara-arcana
4.Kali-Harikirtanam

Theser are the authoritative spiritual quotations:
Srimad Bhagavatam(12.3.52),
Whatever result was obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Vishnu, in Treta-yuga by performing sacrifices, and in Dvapara-yuga by serving the Lord's lotus feet can be obtained in Kali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.

There are similar verses
Vishnu Purana (6.2.17), Padma Purana (Uttara-khanda 72.25) and e Brihan-naradiya Purana (38.97):
"Whatever is achieved by meditation in Satya-yuga, by the performance of sacrifice in Treta-yuga, and by the worship of Lord Krishna's lotus feet in Dvapara-yuga is obtained in the age of Kali simply by glorifying the name of Lord Kesava."

Brahma-vaivarta Purana also says,
"Thus in the age of Kali the practices of austerity, yoga meditation, Deity worship, sacrifice and so on, along with their various subsidiary functions, are not properly carried out, even by the most expert embodied souls.

So, by chanting the holy names of Krishna one can achieve the benefits very easily. The other processes are though bonafide are very difficult in this age of kali and physically almost impossible as you are wondering by asking how is it possible?
