Not to run away from the law. Does the law differ between states?

I think that everywhere in the world, you generally stay in your car when you are pulled over.
It doesnt make sense for you to come out. There is traffic whizzing by, and you are safe within the confines of your car. The traffic policeman is actually putting himself in danger coming out to ask you a few questions or to give you a simple speeding ticket or warning, whatever your infraction is.
Is coming out of the car illegal in Australia? No. But in any freeway in the world, the rules are the same. No loitering, nor pedestrians, no hitchhiking and you stop only for car emergencies.

If your car is not roadworthy, you souldnt drive it so.. no in this case
If you are stopped and get out for a talk if told to do so ..... obviously not
If your car is on fire/dangerous - you're OK
If you are stopped on a freeway, again if you are told to get out then you should for your (and officers safety).. No
If you are told to stay in the car and you decide to get out...Well you are about to be busted! - wilful disobedience!
If you get out in a hostile manner all swearing and gesticulating - again, expect to be busted!
Canberra capital law is a slight varient
South Australia requires adherence to the officers request

Not that I know of. My father always told us that if we got pulled over by police to get out of the car and meet them half way, and on the one or two times that I have been pulled over I have gotten out and met them half way.
