My sister inlaw refuses to put her 2 year old in a toddler bed. He is constantly climbing out of his crib and has taken some pretty nasty falls from the 4 1/2 feet up. Hes been lucky to only get bruises on him from it. The bad thing is he has hemophilia so even a bruise is a bad thing for him especially. She says she doesn't want to put him in the bed because she doesn't want to have to get up with him in the morning.
We've tried everything we can think of to get her to do it.. telling her to suck it up to even buying the bed for her.
Can you give me any ideas on how to convince her its time?

If she refuses to put him in a bed, you could purchase her this:
http://store.babycenter.com/product/code/1444.do
http://www.onestepahead.com/product/27205/96/117.html
It is a crib tent that will keep him in his crib.
She does sound lazy and he sounds like he is in danger. I think I would at least buy this for him and even help install it so you are sure they are using it and for peace of mind and his safety.
hope that helps,
Mom of 5 with another on the way

He could fall and get really hurt. If she doesn't want to spend money on a toddler bed or a tent, you could buy a couple "railings" that attach to the sides of a twin bed, or cheaper yet, put a mattress on the floor. And then buy the plastic door knob covers for a couple bucks so the child can't leave the room. Sounds like she just doesn't want to be hassled with any kind of inconvenience. I also like the idea of telling her mom or someone whose opinion she cares about.

Not to be mean or anything like that but it sounds like your sister is lazy. I have 2 year old twin girls. They sleep in a twin bed. Have done so since they were 20 months old. They to were crawling out of their cribs. They have their own room and I just close the door so they can't get out and roam the house at night. I get up at 6 very morning so am always up before them. You just have to ask your sister what will she do if he falls out of his crib and hurts himself really bad. Personally, if my babes were to fall out of bed, I would rather it be from a foot off the floor instead of 4 1/2 feet..

we've a kinfolk mattress. My son is two and infrequently sleeps with us and has a tendency to come back for a morning snuggle. My daughter is 10 months and for the most section sleeps with us. Its the in trouble-free words way i'm getting any sleep! The few nights we didnt co sleep the child become up 3-4 circumstances and that i turned right into a zombie the subsequent day. also even as infant is ill or having a boom spert it fairly works out tremendous no longer having to awaken all the thanks to nurse! also it helps my hubby sleep as there is no screaming toddler waiting for the boob (or the bottle if it truly is what you do) I do choose for the more beneficial room I had previously I had children yet I fee my sleep more beneficial than the room! So basicly Madison has been co snoozing for 10 months and Sebas went to his personal mattress even as i become about 8 months preggo with Madison so he become 17 months. He brefly got here lower back to mattress even as Madison become 2-3 months old out of organic jelousy as we couldnt save him in his mattress and has been lower back out of it in view that she become 5 months old so he did it for more beneficial or less 19 months.

Using the above advice, I would tell the mother if she doesn't know and buy the kid a bed, and set it up in his room. Take out the crib. Once it is there she won't have too many excuses.

If she's worried about him getting out of his room all she has to do is get dorr knob covers and put one on the inside of his door so that if he's inside his room he can't get out. But he really needs to get a "big boy bed". Once they can crawl out every doctor will tell you it's time to move out of the crib

I know this sounds like a flip answer but... tell her mother.
My sis-in-law was giving her son cough syrop at night to make him sleep and it was making me a wreck thinking of how wrong it was but she wouldn't listen to a word I said. I finally called her mom (who I barely knew) and asked her to intervene. She went nuts and threatened to turn her daughter in to child services. She stopped giving him the meds and, although it turned our poor relationship worse, I can sleep at night without worrying about her little guy.
It's clear she won't listen to you (even though you're 100% right) so it might be time to call out the big guns :)
Good luck with this. Your nephew is luckyto have such a caring aunt.

go with the crib tent
if i were u i would definitely buy her a crib tent. at least the baby is safe in the cage, she obviously isn't listening to your reasoning.
i think the crib tent looks like a cage.

Tell his doctor.
She does not respect your opinion, and she will only consider you a busy body if you do anything but approach a professional. As a doctor, they cannot tell you the results, but at least she gets the info from someone she might respect.
