Your tummy is fatty because it is a place where we store fat. To get rid of the excess fat you need to watch your diet; eat less fatty foods and sugar (which becomes fat in our body if not burn quickly).
Also you need to exercise to burn that fat: cardio is the fastest way to burn it. Choose a cardio exercise you like and do it at least 3 times a day for half an hour every time. If you can not sustain the 30 minutes, do what you can and slowly work to reach that goal. Brisk walking maybe an option, it depends on your fitness level.
If you also do some strengh exercises; like weights, etc. the added muscle will bun the store fat too.

I had the same issue.. ...most of my extra weight was in my stomach area. I got fed up w/ trying to fit into my pants and I decided to do something about it. I started running 5 days a week and counting calories. Until I counted calories, I had no idea how much I was really eating. I cut out soda and pretty much keep my calorie intake to around 2000-2500 /day. Working out helps me lose quicker. Since Jan 1, I've lost over 10 pounds and nearly most of it was from my stomach area. My pants now fit much better. In addition to running, I've started doing crunches and other ab exercises. This helps too. But, in the end, you have to lose the fat and the only way to do this is to burn more calories than you intake. Just be patient, it doesn't happen overnight.

its expensive, just do some crunches and sit ups. they really help or go to a gym.
